Tell me how is that supposed to be badass again? Duke's a macho sexist one note assclown in this game.
Is this game supposed to be funny or serious. Death is real, genocide and rape is real. How is this supposed to be a fun light hearted game when the main character has the cardboard personality of a arrogant 12 year kid and kills aliens with humans as humor?

Hmm, there's a difference between over the top and being ****ing stupid.
Having girls being raped by aliens and then have the line, "You're ****ed", isn't funny.
Having girls burst because they being impregnated and say "abortion" is not funny.
South Park has wit, this is just dumb. There's a reason why most reviewers gave the game a bad score. Not because they don't "get" the game but because it's not very good and not funny.

South Park has over the top toilet humor that has offended many people over the past 15 years or so. It's something people either love or hate. I like South Park, but many have argued it going too far. There are other media out there that does as well.
Not liking the comments is one thing, but crying about it making light of "violence and death" is just ridiculous. There are just waaay too many games with death in it, and if it is that serious one shouldn't watch or play media with it in that if it bothers them. Especially not Duke, that's like complaining about porn because it has sex in it.
Also men being raped in movies in television, is considered funny. It just goes to show the double standards I'm talking about yet again. Rape is either funny or unfunny. I can see why it might have bothered some people (like I said) but it isn't that serious.
I don't really care about what other reviewers say for the most part. I don't trust most of their scores and they have other agendas behind them. I trust what I play or what someone I know says. As my game is still on its way I'll have to try it out tomorrow or so. It doesn't *look* that bad on PC. I think it looks solid. Not stellar but not as bad as people are dragging it to be. Maybe it's the delay time or whatever else. But if the graphics are solid, controls are solid, and the mechanics are solid, I'd say it's a solid game. But I'll have to play the full thing to give a full review over it.
Yeah, a show that makes OTT comedic use of paedophiles, homosexuality, racism, religion, people dying, drug-use, severe medical conditions is less offensive than a macho man character swearing and making misogynist remarks.

Yea, I think people are just looking for a reason to hate the game. Many European and other game rating places give it a 7-8. I think the game is solid. The big reason people are bashing it is "Because it's the "cool" thing to do." And because of the release taking so long.
The game looks solid and I wouldn't say it's perfect. But it's not a 4/10 or 3/10. Games like that are just unplayable and have major glitches/flaws. Considering average games get 7/10's nowadays I don't think that is too bad of a rating for it. 7.5/10 or so. Many game review places are also paid by companies for high rating to increase sales.
People wanted an old school Duke that wasn't old school, they go that, they wanted "modern" and "crude jokes" and got that, and they still complain. People are complaining for any reason. "I don't like the QTE button" etc. are just being ridiculous. I prefer classic shooters with the ability to hold over a dozen weapons and a normal health bar. But I don't think the game is badly made because of it. Let's be reasonable people.

You're the biggest Duke Fanboy... you've started something now bub... Many would fight for that throne. People call me the black Duke Nukem (for physique and boldness reasons) Fanboy to me is a derogatory term for people who take it too far and can't admit when their object of interest is wrong.
Yea, I don't mind people not liking it. But there's bandwagon jumping and the like thrown in there. And people hating it for silly reasons.
Things I would like done different:
Carrying all weapons and items.
Normal Health (although this isn't my biggest concern).
Less Linear and more jetpack.
Space levels.
Hardware improvements that come with the time.
Most of the above can be done with mods. I'm sure the weapon thing will be done that way.
I haven't seen any real major glitches myself. No major sound bugs or freezes. I think the X360 may have had some, but I'm talking about the PC.
There is a valid point in here that there is an art and timing to even the basest toilet humor. I haven't played this Duke, but criticisms of that kind may indeed be valid. Vulgarity and poor taste simply for the sake of it is not funny to most. To use the earlier South Park example, there's a sort of meta-irony when they go very much over the top, because you know they're trying to upset those who will hate such things, or to take it just past the point that even regular viewers expect them to. I can't imagine Duke going "haha, look, she's being raped" is an equivalent. The demo I watched left me with that impression.

I agree. Being vulgar for the sake of being vulgar isn't good (which is why so few people pull it off). The problem with "extreme media" is that it can write itself into a corner. The people who aren't bothered by it play it the most. But the ones who are won't play it anyways so the shock value diminishes. Games like Manhunt suffer from this.
Duke isn't made to be "shocking" more or less a refuge in audacity that is so over the top that it is actually funny. Like Conker's Bad Fur Day.
Duke was upset about them dying, so it is possible that he thought he could save them judging by his comment after. He didn't say "Haha you were raped though." Something a little different. If people are upset about it that's their choice. I still stand by my stance on the media and a man being in the same situation and it being a joke. Not to mention a person playing this kind of game or watching a certain type of media (Tom Green) should have an idea of what is in store.
No, the line is, "You're ****ed". That's bad taste.
The same as the scene where you have to kill the female to progress in the level after she has been impregnated. You can wait for a bit and she blows up from the alien baby inside here. I think they line Duke says is something the regards as "Abortion".
This is from what I've read so I haven't played it and probably not due to the game looking like shit but if those lines are the case, that's not funny because there isn't any point to the joke.
