Jury-rigging the pistols to translate power from the batteries into a nonlethal blast is relatively simple. But it does take time, in which Kay can tend to some of your wounds and get your damage back down to zero.
Your throat is still a little sore, obviously, but by the time you finish, you're ready for action!

She produces the cylindrical device again and flips the activator. The conical end produces strings of energy from the perforations. You recognize it as a high-powered stun baton, a little used device lovingly nicknamed the Jedi Nightstick.

Kay, in a fluid motion, as if igniting her lightsaber, snaps the stun baton on... and catches a zombified worker in the chest as he falls atop her. The baton zaps the worker enough to incapacitate him, and she pushes him off.
Panels and vent covers drop down from above as the workers try to drop down atop you. Having sensed them and spotted them before they made their move, you have the initiative.

Bam! A pair of puppets drop from the ceiling, clutching their chests as your toned-down pistols sting them with a 6 and a 10! One is down for the count, but the other continues, pulling itself up from the floor with a blank expression.
Kay swipes at a worker that moves in on her, catching it in the jaw with a 2. No outcome on her roll means that the worker staggers back briefly, but does not react.
"We need to get out," Kay says. "Head for the door!"

Your targets crumple to the ground, stunned, with shots of 7 and 12.
Kay quickly moves for the door, Blurring to outrun the puppets pursuing her. The workers are not terribly fast, but she still needs time to cut back through the door that she has welded shut.
"Cover me!" she says as you reach the door. She sinks her lightsaber back into the thick metal of the door, this time to slice through it and push it outwards. It will take a moment.

Tanic'll snap shots off at another two targets (just remembered he's got BGB - unless you were already using that), and will keep snapping shots until we're through the door.
Once he's hit a target, he won't shoot at it again - just trying to slow 'em down, not so concerned about dropping them.

I've been using that, though I did forget what level you had it at. Any attacks with BGB are at a -1 penalty.
A 10 and a 19 are both hits enough to drop your targets, even with the -3 penalty from snapping with Both Guns Blazing. At an unimpressive skill of 5, these puppets are relatively mindless and lack combat training. Womprats in a bucket, Tanic.
Your covering fire is effective in taking down targets, but those that you only manage to 'wound' keep coming. Almost as if they cannot feel pain. Zombie-like, they drag themselves towards you with those blank expressions, thumping out that Rhythm on their thighs with closed fists...
Kay is half-way done.
