Obviously. My question was ment to mean why is it that STP doesn't rank in more people's top of the 90's lists. I'm just curious to see if they were not as popular as I thought, considering how much I like them.

Nine Inch Nails
The Prodigy
The Chemical Brothers
Beck
Massive Attack
Portishead
Garbage
Rage Against the Machine
Radiohead
Smashing Pumpkins.
Most of those bands spanned the late 80's - the 90's.
Honourable mentions:
Oasis
Weezer
Deftones
Now I'm gonna load my iPod with my 90s shit.

1) Radiohead (though their post-90s career is even arguably better. And this is definitely despite Pablo Honey)
2) Pearl Jam (the thing people forget about Pearl Jam is they were not only considered a better band than Nirvana when Cobain died, but were much more popular.)
3) Smashing Pumpkins (sure, Billy Corgan is a bit of a musical dictator, but he just made great music... until he started Zwan.)
4) Beck (did Beck make a bad album in the 90s? Before you look, the answer is no.)
5) The Flaming Lips (like Beck, didn't make a bad album in the 90s.)
6) Uncle Tupelo (arguably the best alt-country act out there; fans still are pining for a reunion, 15 years after they broke up.)
7) Pavement (Just listen to Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and you'll see why.)
8) Rage Against the Machine (militantly angry and loud. Some of the best hard rock to come out of the 90s.)
9) Soundgarden (if only for Chris Cornell's brilliant rock voice)
10) Red Hot Chili Peppers (John Frusciante really is a guitar god. Even though Anthony Kiedis is a horrible songwriter, the rest of the group's musicianship brings the band up enough to squeeze into the top 10).
1. counting crows (prob. my fav band ever)
2. alannis morrisette (jagged little pill - 5 star rolling star review - brilliant album)
3. stone temple pilots - plush - need i say more?
4. rem - awesome indie band - how van you not think of rem when you look back in the 90's???
5. dmb - all talented musicians - take it from a drummer
6. blues traveler - great band
7. alice in chains - great lyrics, voice, vibe
8. gin blossoms - love these guys
9. cranberries (still one of my favorite bands ever - linger is in my top ten songs all time)
10. live - synonomous with the 90's :-)
honorable mention:
nirvanna, smashing pumpkins, pearl jam, toad the wet sprocket, neds atomic dustbin (lol), red hot chili peppers, oasis, 311, rage against the machine, bush, sponge, spin doctors, third eye blind, the sundays

People tend to forget that Limp Bizkit revolutionized the "BreakDown" era.
They popularized the textbook "scene" get-up of the late 90's:
Baseball cap, Adidas sweats/hoodies or oversized T's, baggy pants/shorts, skater sneaks.
In the early 2000's up until now, the "emo" scene has taken over.
Almost every guy/girl I know has the typical generic Florence Henderson haircut.
Body-fit T's, skinny pants, pink/black stripped stockings(for girls), black eyeliner.
And honestly, I don't know which band is responsible for it (emo crap).
