It seems, everyone from here on is out to pull out the big guns and flex their (e)muscles. No to be left behind, and seeing as if I lose the next match would be my last match (me thinks). I think I better play my last ace in a whole.

Digimark007 has fallen to Darthgoober.
Based on all the battles thus far, has anyone changed their opinion on who has the best odds to win at this point?

...not really any changed opinions. I saw goober/myself as a possible later-round preview anyway, so it doesn't change my opinion that we both still have a chance to win it all.
But the 1-1 people better pray they don't draw me in round 3. I'll wait patiently for another shot at goober, but would really like to vent some tourney frustration right now, and will take anyone I can get.

I pray to Odin, I am matched with a significant team for the second round. Because I sure as hell wont be holding back next round.

Here's a question for Evangel:
The FFA. Will it include those who don't make it out of the round robin, those who lose in the round of 6, or both? Basically, will it be a 3-way, 6-way, or a 9-way FFA?
I don't plan on being there, but was curious. As I understand it, it'll be 9, but I remember her breaking it up somehow...in any case, there's likely others that don't know the details either, so it might be good to re-post.

It's kind of a shame. My loss to goober isn't as annoying as the fact that I have to bring something resembling my A-game again next week, especially depending on the matchup. I was looking forward to taking it semi-seriously, but d*cking around a little with whoever my opponent is. No such luxuries now.

Now that the latest match has been decided, does anyone have any new odds or opinions they want to share?

Special Tournament Round:"Last Chance Finale"
All participants who lost in their respective “best of three” match-ups will be sent to this showdown. It is the very edge of despair. It is truly your last chance to reach for stars and grasp victory or fall to the cold dead embrace of defeat.
Each pool will have 3 people fighting at once in a single match.
Pool A: 3 people – 1 winner
Pool B: 3 people – 1 winner
Pool C: 3 people – 1 winner
Pool X: 3 winners from pools A to C = 1 survivor
The winner from Pool X will be sent to the semi-finals with the winners from the regular rounds.

So who is favored to win on the Typhus vs id369 match?
As well, who is favored to win in the Papa Smurph vs Digimark007?

Don't know Typus well enough.
Digimark should win but if Smurph's strategy hold . . .

A few members have dropped, ideas crushed, and the finals will be coming soon.
So what are the current odds now?
Who makes it past last chance?
Favorite to win?

I left myself out but here are some general thoughts on everyone else.
Tony Stark-
Stark's done a really good job at both picking amalgam components that compliment each other. Having Doom's brain combined with Glad's speed means that Tony's going to be able to make the most of his assigned prep time and he will in all likelihood be the single most effective person in this tourney as far as prep goes.
Stark's amalgam is also a major threat in a one on one throw down. Enhancing Glad's confidence based powers with the Ego of Dr. Doom was a stroke of sheer brilliance, and that level of physical ability backed by Doom's sorcery and prep abilities makes Stark's amalgam a serious threat to ANYONE.
Overall, if Stark does his homework on both his own and his opponents characters he should do really well in this tourney. I won't yet credit him with the debating skills necessary to take the tourney because I haven't seen them from him yet, but he's definitely put a brilliant set up into place and I can see him pulling at least 2 or 3 wins for that reason alone if he plays his cards right.
Creshosk-
What can I even say... there are just no words. I've spoken with Cresh and have a good idea of what's in store for his opponents, but I really don't think it's going to be all that effective against the majority of the participants. Of course it may be extremely effective against a few of his opponents depending on the arguments Cresh brings, I just don't see it working on many of them.
Overall, Cresh is probably the least likely to win the tourney, but as far as having fun in the tourney goes he's got us all beat.
id369 -
id369 is a tough call. I think I have some idea of what he's planning, and if I'm right it's going to make for some interesting matches. If I'm right and his plan works, there's actually a good chance he's going to blow everyone he goes up against out of the water. My concern is his ability to convince the judges of his strategies feasibility.
Of course even it's entirely possible that I've made the wrong call on what his plan is, in which case it's anyone's guess. But with access to the feats of two of the most powerful psi's in Marvel, the ability to boost his power, and extensive knowledge of his opponents he's got the potential to do some massive damage even if I'm wrong.
Overall, I see id369 putting on a good show but I can't really see him as being one of the tourneys front runners... assuming that the uber strategy I cooked up for him doesn't pan out with the judges...
Papa Smurph-
Dr. Fate + WWH= trouble. Stacks has done a good job of covering his bases with his amalgam, and his amalgam's name is second to none. I don't really know a lot about Dr. Fate(yet) but if we use Strange as a measuring stick then Stacks could really ask for much more. WWH's uber durability and regeneration will buy lots of time to cast spells, and the massive amount of prep means that ANYTHING can happen.
What Stacks will have to watch for, is his attitude going into the matches themselves. His arrogance may very well cause him to take the wrong approach in winning the votes of the judges, and that kind of thing can cost you big time in a tourney.
Overall, I see Stacks doing about as well as id369. He'll put on as good a show as his amalgam allows, but he'll probably fall short when it comes time to tally the votes.
Symmetric Chaos-
One of the tourney favorites, Symmetric Chaos will undoubtedly do well in this tourney. His amalgam is powerful(though somewhat limited in versatility) and giving Batman prep time is ALWAYS a good idea(especially when you can lend him speed to increase his workload).
Defensively, SC's amalgam is all but unstoppable because of the combination of Flash's speed, Supes's durability, and Karnak's skills. And offensively... well the prospect of facing an Superman strength level IMP aimed at one of your bodies "weak spots" is enough to give just about anyone nightmares. Throwing a prepped Batman into the equation was a nice move, and if he's given sufficient speed he could very well end up being SC's "trump card" more often than not.
Overall, I see SC as having the best chance to walk away from this tourney as the winner. He skills as a debater is well known and he's got a good team backing him. The only thing he falls short on is tourney experience, and he's done enough judging in tourneys to balance that out.
Devil Lance-
While not an actual favorite to win, DL still bears watching by his opponent. Like id369 I'm pretty sure I know what DL's planning, and like id369's plan I don't really know how well it's going to work. If he can build a strong case for it he's going to be a tough opponent to beat, if he doesn't he's going to have problems. I see DL's amalgam as being more
reliable in the event that his uber strategy doesn't work though, so I can see him doing well no matter what.
His Amalgam is sure to be a terror to anyone who's relying primarily to magic due to the combination of his nth metal and water hand, and having Firestorm as backup is sure to come in handy against any "brick" type opponents.
Overall, I see DL's chances as being above those of the tourney n00bs, but still behind the likes of Digi and SC.
TricksterPriest-
Trickster's one of the few people who's strategy actually has me stumped. Drafting three time related characters without drafting time manipulation is bizarre to say the least so I have some research to do before our match.
Just going off what I know though, Tricks amalgam has some nice elements to it. Metron's prep skills are up there with the best of 'em, and Waverider a good pick just about any way you look at it.
For right now I really don't have enough info on Trick's characters to make an accurate call, and besides that he and I are facing off in the first round so it's difficult for me to be impartial with my assessment. So I'll hold off my opinion on Trick until our first match is over...
psycho gundam-
You know with all the complicated crap that gets spewed during a tourney, you've just got to love it when someone steps up with a no nonsense "I run up and kick your ass all over the battlefield" type approach. Simple, direct, yes gundam's plan are both of these, but that doesn't make his amalgam any less of a monster.
Up close and personal, no one in the tourney has a chance of taking down Jugg's with the Space and Power Gems. Unfortunately up close and personal is just about all gundum's got going for him. It's hard to rule anything out when the IG's are involved though, even though it'll be tough to convince the judges of Cain being able to accomplish anything exotic with them.
Overall I think psycho's lack of versatility will be his undoing. He might be able to pull a win or two if he gets creative, but by the end of his second(and possibly first) match his opponents will know just what to expect from him and then....
King Kandy-
Stacks has taken a road similar to Stack's, but he's favored speed over strength and that was probably a good choice. Kandy's the only person who's prep I see being near TONY STARK's, and given that Kandy's prep is magical in nature it could even be argued that they're nearly equal.
Zoom's speed guartee's that Kandy will have more than enough time to use whatever spells he wants, and Strange's offensive firepower is second to none in this tourney. And since Kandy's the only participant to make use of the BFR option, there's a good chance that his opponents won't even get a chance to fight back. Other than DL, there's no team in the tourney I couldn't see Kandy winning over if he really uses his characters to the fullest but problems might arise if he gets lazy and someone manages to out prep him.
Overall I could see Kandy doing really well OR really poorly based entirely on how much he knows about all the characters involved. If I had to wager a guess I'd say he'll probably go down in the semifinals, though it wouldn't surprise me if he made it all the way to the finals.
DigiMark007-
Digi is an obvious favorite to win this thing. He's got a powerful and versatile team, and he's a tourney veteran besides.
Digi has a better working knowledge of Thor and the Doctor than just about anyone on KMC and because of that literally ANYTHING is possible within his prep period. Brains like Luthor and Reed provide any misc. firepower that might be necessary. What's more, Digi's team is tailor made to use his "Power Boosting" extra to the fullest and his opponents are going to be in for a surprise if they underestimate the teams raw power. The fact that Digi is also the only person to take the "Spying on Opponent" option is also going to give him a major advantage in this prep heavy tournament.
Overall I see Digi doing extremely well. I have noticed one potential fly in the ointment, but other than that Digi's chances are extremely good which is why he's my #2 pick to win behind SC.
SmurphSmash!
-Smurph(along with Trick) is another who's team has me completely baffled. I have no clue what he's planning beyond the obvious(a battle of attrition), so Smurph's another that needs further investigation.
Bricks beware cause there's not a damn thing you can do to Smurph's lineup. Smurph's opponents lacking versatility are likely to find themselves unable to deal with several on Smurph's team, but powerful amalgam's are potentially the bane of Smurph's team.
Overall... Hell I don't know. Unless Smurph's got something up his sleeve I think he may have difficulty with some of the more powerful amalgams. But then again I don't really see Smurph as being the type to do this UNLESS he had something up his sleeve. So I'm gonna have to hold off my judgement on Smurph until I get a chance to look into a couple of his guys.

Well there were a lot of things that changed over the course of the tourney because of rule alterations and people dropping out, but other than my prediction of how well Tony Stark would do and my not pointing myself out as the one to win it looks like my predictions during the first round were pretty damn accurate... maybe I should become the "bookie" for tourney's here on KMC .
Oh and everyone that named me as the tourney favorite can take this opportunity to pat themselves on the back now .

Hey I made the assessment before Typhus joined. I'd actually planned on doing one on him after he signed up but that was right around the time I dropped out so I never got around to it. But I was going to give him favorable odds...
