Since I make the rules, I'm going to say that if it's acknowledged in the respect thread, it counts. So lifetime series is 2-2 between Blair and Scoob, since I include ill's last tourney, despite it not finishing. Next week will be a fun tiebreak.
One, the lists (currently residing on page 9 or so) will be edited into page 1 at the top, and updated to include present-day happenings.
Two, Smurph's getting inducted. Even if he wins the current tourney (doubtful ) he's earned it. I'll make it official soon, complete with stupid Thor-speak.
Three, I've mentioned it to a few people: we're making a list. A list of competitors, ranked like a BCS-style poll. But the goal won't be a back-patting one like many "best {insert trait}" threads. First, it will be to honor and recognize those who our peers think is truly the best. Second, it can be used for ranking purposes, in case a tourney wants to do seeding. Third, most importantly, it will be incentive for people to improve their debating/ideas in order to move onto the list, or up the list for vets. And we'll be doing it by PM ballot, with only those I choose (20-25 people) getting to vote because they've had some large affect on tournies. That way there isn't discussion, fighting, controversy, etc.
Four, I'll be including links to the respect thread and the tourney directors guide (which can be handy for participants to read as well) to page 1.
Five, a couple new lists. I'll also accept new ideas for lists.
Made the additions of the lists to page 1, at the top. I also updated the opening post with a few new links and notes.
And I'm totally using the link in the opening post some year and being a hardcore Viking for Halloween. The awesome amount of Viking sh*t on the site is fairly impressive.
I'll prepare a statement about Smurph's valiant endeavors, and induct him in a few days.
Smurph, thy Cavalier spirit hath brought thee many successes, and yet failure. The bitter fruit of unfulfilled greatness lingers upon thee. And yet you continue to strive nobly on, questing for the Grail of a tourney win. Hearty congratulations, friend, on a fight well fought thus far, and continued success as you pursue your deserved victory!
Smurph's a member yo. A dubious distinction, yes, but a noble one. Give him your voices!
