You know what I can buy that, it leaves pretty much the entirety of the Star Wars EU for us to re-write. I would still like us to take a shot at taking on a Death Star or some super-weapon. Not to have but for the cool factor and the heavy losses we will sustain. But I did always understand your viewpoint on the superweapons and stuff.

But as I said. That sounds rather interesting. So did the clone kill the Emperor, or did the original Marek?

What we could also do is have events of the films still take place as the Empire struggles to stay in power, before it begins breaking apart.

If it is set after the film time-line generally then, just referenced, but it would be part of the created back-story.

However i was thinking before a new hope takes place too during and after but vastly different events take place

If we go with the original canon the Empire was around for more than sixty years before they were toppled, but because Lucas changed everything with his prequels... I dunno.

The Empire in no way could have built the vast military might they had by the end of the twenty years we need to at least push an extra ten in there before the Rebellion even became a nuisance.

Are we only dealing with film canon, or will we bring in some EU?

Star wars as a whole and the empire built off the republic, the rebellion had its shit pretty together by the end of empire strikes back, lots of places still have their own military too i believe, i know some were left untouched by the empire in exchange for something.

Hey EH, while we work on this game can we properly tie off the old one, giving hints of hope for the future, and whsipers of the past in an echoe of the Empire Strikes Back type ending. Indicate that there are still stories to be told, and theses characters still have their own paths and a future, but we just won;t be telling it.

I was thinking [The imperial Alliance Fleet two commanders discussing their plans for the future- Jacen having defeated Darth Sear, with Satana there, breaking the hold and manipulation Banis has had over him, and then a bunch of our characters in a bar kinda moving on from the war (eg. tyri and Julius have retired, and are settling down), and then cut to I dunno anyone] lol

A send off hinting that while it is all over, things are still to come for the characters just we won't be telling that story.

Too much effort I guess, but it would be nice, after all we have been playing some of these characters for a long time...

Shame, that shit (they called a game) was far more interesting in TFU2 than the first. Then again, we don't know exactly when Vader 'could' have started cloning Starkiller, so it is always possible there are a bunch of aging Force strong (almost insane) Mareks for someone to roll in to take control of (Benjii ahem), knocking about in an abandoned but still active (or functioning or 'left on') Imperial cloning facility.

Other than that, guess the Imperial Alliance will rise again (in this alternate time-line).

It might make sense to actually had another Sith knocking about who stepped into the power vacuum created by the loss of the Emperor, driving a certain NPC-based Imperial faction, making sure certain events took place such as the Battle of Hoth. The Force is funny like that.

We can also assume that the core worlds are off-limits in terms of being conquerable because I guess Isane Isard has locked down and batoned the hatches. Could probably still go there, but not be able to do anything other than use it to go sight-seeing, and social game-play. Besides getting through customs would be fun!!

Remember these are all merely ideas and suggestions to leave interesting things to deal with.

no galen clones, i doing this to build the rp around the events and settings and people of the star wars universe but not be about any existing characters, still exist and referenced etc. but the empire for one lost almost all high commanders in the ensuing struggle for power. rebellion could still have same command though if whoever plays them if they do get played can keep

Nah, the dying forces of the Empire need a good leader, the Empire wasn't bad, just the people who ran it. Heck if Fey'lya had been in charge the Rebellion would probably be in the bin.

Galaxy At War: The Gritty Reboot

Darth vader and his secret apprentice succeed at killing the emperor however galen marek turned on vader, he had sided with the rebellion. He fights vader too the death, sacrificing himself to destroy a vader fully lost too the dark side. In the wake much of the imperial high command is destroyed, the rebellion escaped mostly intact and growing support as the wavering imperial armies and fleets are being toppled, quitting, surrendering or form their own dominion under a commander, warlord or bureaucrat. Rebellion support is on the rise in the wake, as well as numerous other factions trying to take what they want. The jedi are hunting by some and actively recruited by others, relatively few still survive.
It's a new galaxy, engaged in vicious territory wars, it's own heroes and villains whether they are just doing what they can too get by like the Syphix sisters or running with a high price on his head like an exiled mandalorian merc. The Mandalorians gather and prepare for war under an alliance with an ambitious imperial war lord in exchange for a favor too the mandalore.

I'm leaving it mostly vague because how the galaxy forms depends on what you guys do with your characters. i will introduce an unifying storyline for the roleplay

the fleet building will work by points. as of right now, and i expect this to change as issues come up, it will be, i'm looking into ways to play out combat for those that want it

45 points total

17 points for a Star Dreadnaught (super star destroyers etc.)

5 points for cruisers/battles ships(imperial star destroyers, mon calamari cruisers etc.)

4 for Frigates (nebulon b, Acclamator star destroyer etc.)

3 corvette/carriers (corellian corvette, escort carriers etc.)

2 assualt freighters/gunship squads

1 Starfighter/bomber/interceptor squadrons, this only counts for extra starfighters, another ships complement of starfighters and ships do not spend your points

Rules for the Fleet

1. absolutely no super weapons (i.e death stars and such) this is unfair towards other players as they are mostly almost indestrucable, and would almost requiring god modding to defeat, plus it's too much power and spoils the fun

2. you can use any ships you want to make your fleet, however they can not be ships that come into production after this rp takes place, but can be almost as far back as you want

3. please be creative with the fleets, it would be a little lame to see every side having the same or nearly the same fleet build

4. exceptions to rule 2 are experimental ships that were scrapped, destroyed by rivalling faction or ridiculously hard/expensive to make and there would be no logical way your character could get a hold of them (i.e. the TIE-Phantoms)

5. you can make your own ships if you wish, however they should follow the specs of a canon ship. this is so the customs ships remain relatively realistic. certain exceptions might be made for this rule, so ask me about custom ships if you wish.

Okay, how do you earn either additional points for ships or do we recover points after we lose our ships, so we can replace our losses?

To me if 2 points are freighter/gun ship squadrons then the 2 points should also give you singular corvettes and carriers.

3 points are what you have on 4 points. And on four points we should be seeing Victory and Venator class Destroyers and so on.

In terms of ship combat: maybe some kind of dice rolling system. 1 to detirmine accuracy, 2 to detirmine shield penetration etc. 3 to detirmine damage (if any) if shields are penetrated. And then roll D6s for damage based on ship type. SSD could roll 15 of them, normal Star Destroyers roll up to 7 and so on. I dunno... Something like that maybe. It could all be worked out to be fun... Then hit points per ship before they are either listing or leaving combat zone unless ordered to stay, and points till total destruction. Also ships firing against the mighty Star Drednaught should get accuracy bonuses, but it should have plenty of HP.

My Imperial faction may develop their own ships and stuff later on, possibly if allowed. Silly if I had them now. However I would like to have my faction be in the process of replacing it's Starfighter complements with X-Wings designed and built based on captured Rebel starfighters.

Anyway, can't wait either way...

Everybody is on equal grounds. Nobody will be a massive operation except for the factions I control too move along a plot (at least not yet) and combat ill figure out tonight or tomorrow but we don't need that sorted too start, I don't want most combat left up too rolls, we can work it out better on the go anyway and too start there will be little unscripted combat

Also realise if rolling dice come into play this will certainly be a hosted game and complaining to the person rolling (nothing personal but people cheat) will result in nothing gained.

We can set up a mass die roller with a password to use. Then there is no lying for any person then because we all can see. But, dice rolling will make it very dependant. So definately something to think about for the future... In the extreme case.

In any event, looking forward to it.

So whats the deal with Force users, we limit each faction to two (if plausible?).
