strangely I have enjoyed pausing in combat, it allows me as a wizard to cast my spells in a strategic fashion. Hell even if its not required like near the end of the game its nice to send off a strategic volley of spells.
Out of curiosity do you still play FFXI these days Borat? Thinking of getting back into it and I haven't played it for ages and was wondering whether any big changes had been made.

Well nah i quit a year ago.
But honestly don't waste your time with FFXI, wait the FFXIV which is essentially the new MMO which may be out this year(or maybe next).
The last time i played XI in end of 08 the game did have quite a few "big" changes, theres this level sync system.
It goes by if lets say your party members are mostly lv 55-56 and theres this lv 70 dude that needs a party, he can join your party and with the level sync they will reduce his lv to the same level as your party(55) and he still wears the lv 70 equipment though its toned down proportionally to fit that level.
If he leaves the party it goes back to its original level.
What level were you anyway?

RTO gets delayed with no offical explanation, friggin great.
I stopped playing some time early 2008 and I was going to wait for another expansion but I literally just found out that these three huge add on scanarios have been added to the game (all written by Masato Kato = storytelling genius) and I was thinking of getting back into it, and to be honest, I'm not getting great vibes from FFXIV (the job system in particular sounds pretty weak).

Ah ok, 75 Samurai here, sub jobs were Warrior and Thief. Had a 67 paladin but never bothered finishing it.
The expansions are neat, but at this time getting people to assist you is a pain in the ass(thats one flaw of ffxi, you can't do the majority of things alone.)
Truth be told not much is known about XIV so i think I'll wait for the reviews to come up and maybe test the game.
But honestly, FFXI had many many fond memories to this day and probably stole more hours a day from me than any other game.
