First impressions of Retribution are very good. The beta showed the worst possible bit; skirmish is still unsatisfying. Everything else has been greatly improved.
The campaign set-up has a nice mix between DoW2s levelling up of characters and SC2's buying/improvement of your available forces.
Being able to build forces in single player is very welcome of course.

My favorite campaign was the very first one the original DoW, but I love me some Angelos.
However ive enjoyed the two campaigns in retribution that ive beaten so far.
Relic has gotten better with the lore and the voice acting is pretty good in my opinion. However I am quite the sucker for a warboss with a pirate accent.
There's a new course and a new hero; I've tried the new course once and it looks just fine but I've not spent much time there yet. I;d prefer to have others to play with.

The general consensus from what I've heard is that the storyline is kind of intresting because you see it from different race's perspectives, but the actual storyline is weaker than the other two games' storylines.
What's your opinion on that, Ush?

Well I am slowly playing through with marines right now for the most continuous story experience. It's no great shakes but actually story was never DoW2's strong suit, so I am not sure this one looks worse by comparison.

I dunno man... something about the game just feels... off. The multiplayer is as unsatisfying as ever, and the campaign just feels... lacking, for lack of a better word. I can't put my finger on it as a whole, but none of the campaigns feel as individually solid as the ones in the previous two games. As far as storylines go, I actually rather liked Chaos Rising. By the time I got to the end of the game, I was genuinely curious who the traitor was, and the second half of vanilla DoW was epic. I just feel like "meh" with this one, though.
Also, any of you guys played match making yet? Is it just me or is DoW's matchmaking horribly inefficient?

I had that feeling of something being off too. But there were good moments. I've played the Eldar campaign and it was awesome to find out about Taldeer's fate.
And if a full race is not to follow, it had better be because they are in DoW3 instead.
For all its faults- and in the end, Company of Heroes is better- I'd still be playing DoW2 if a. there was some decent skirmish AI and b. one of my two races was playable (Tau or Necrons).
Last Stand was always fun so having Tau in suits me.

He's one of the most powerful units i've seen in the game so far; my space marine captain, even with an equivalent level, was basically just supporting this crazy mofo.
