They have stepped up their attacks on Republican property in recent months, always striking to steal technological parts, and leaving no survivors. Vicious people, the Charaeans. They amputate their own limbs and replace them with cybernetics as a way of life; the operation is done without anaesthetic."

"That may be true. Xeth went out there because we tipped him off. You see, the sudden increase in resources of the Chareans is suspicious. They are scavengers, they have little industrial capacity of their own, and nothing they have stolen could explain their increase in power.
"But some of our agents found a discrepancy in the Trade Federation accounts which gave us a very like explanation. You see, Xeth has been working with me for many years on the topic of droid armies. The Federation showed their true colours with the invasion of naboo- something the Jeid have still been unable to hold them fully accuntable for, a mockery of justice. At leats the jeid were able to get the droid armies decommisioned and the manufacturing facilities of the Federation shut down. A large number of the droid armies seemed to 'escape' the decommissioning process and Xeth spent a lot of time tracking rhsse shipments down. They were sold off to various bidders; many went to the Hutts. We concluded that this was at the behest of the Techno Union who are analysing the battle performance of their droids they produced for the Federation. Even now they are developing newer and better technooigies to fight with.
"Xeth's investigation- and the Jedi's legal process- ended in an enormous fight on the plaent Arminium, where Xeth and the Jedi destroyed the last of the missing shipments and found the man apparently responsible- this man killed himself before capture. We are certain this was an obvious ruse by the Techno Union. They arranged things so all evidence pointed to this man being responsible. so the official invesitgation would be closed.
"But every indicaiton Xeth- and indeed, some of the Jedi- received was that the Union intended to continue production of the droids in MASSIVE numbers. Far beyond any possible contratc they have received. And more than droids- we suspect they plan to build enormous munitions and weapon types. Experimental weapons too- under the deveopment of a Union man named Cirus Cannes, their head of 'special projects',. it was Cannes who put Xeth and the Jedi onto Arminium; he is obviously behind the deception.
"The only mystery is where they will do it. Any major manufacutring site inside the Republic would be too obvious. We've been on the look out for suspicious activities for some while to give us a clue. And so when our agents discovered that some months ago a large droid army technical shipment was 'mislaid' in an area of space almost adjacent to Charea, we have drawn certain conclusions. The Chareans, as a cybernetic people obsessdd with technology, are natural allies for the Union- and Cannes himself has cybernetic eyes. he would be the Union's first choice of emissary for such people."

"Xeth doesn't... 'get on' with Cannes so he was keen to take the mission. The Jedi were out there was well. Because of their legal barriers they had no interest in the missing equipment but the Council sent a two man mission to stop the Cult attacks. But by that point the Cult was likely a distraction.
"Our mystery now is exactly what part the Cult is playing. Their industrial capacity is too poor to build droids for the Union. Thry may have been stealing parts for them... but we had little information to go on. Xeth was there to find out exactly what Cannes was up to.
"And there our story ends. Because, you see, Xeth and the others have entirely diappeared."

"Disappeared? With all the information you've managed to gather how exactly do you lose track of so many people? I take it you want us to find our boss and the others and recover whatever information they've gathered...I also take it you'll be paying us hansomly for this job..."

We know that Xeth went to the planet Alzarius where a space liner attacked by the Chareans was being repaired, we know he met the Jedi there. All we know from Alzarius is that Xeth's ship left the world shortly afterwards... and disappeared. No-one knows where. No-one has heard anything. He has not reported in.
