They have officially finished the remake:
quote: Producer Brad Fuller checked in via Twitter with the news that production on Platinum Dunes reboot of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET has officially wrapped. "Just wrapped- sad. This was a fun movie to make." he remarked to his Twitter followers. Lensing on the film began in early May with shooting locations in and around Chicago, Illinois and Gary, Indiana.

It's not an official teaser trailer. I think the Chris Johnson as Freddy Kruger would give that away.

The photo is probably a dark shot release on purpose, I'm hoping they don't show too much of the new Freddy Kruger before the film release.
I'm liking that photo release.

He looks good and hoping the story is also decent considering Bay is one of the producers.

Kruegers story is one of the finest things that, Craven ever imagined. i would like to see a deeper focus on the boogeyman aspect. I'm actually excited to see this movie. I've been wanting a new nightmare flick for a long time and with the technology today...,this movie is gonna be nice.

It's going to concentrate mainly on the 'paedophile' side of things apparently in the first film.

This movie should be pretty great, I've yet to hear anything that made me think it's going to end up bad. JEH as Freddy can't possibly turn out bad.

French directors comment including this remake:
quote: In an interview for the Wall Street Journal, some French horror directors expressed their feelings about Hollywood and the upcoming remake. "I can only talk for myself, but Hollywood is not much of an attraction for me," FabriceDu Welz (the director THE ORDEAL and VIYAN) says. "I know I wouldn't be happy on a film set having two line producers prodding me like on a commercial.
"Directors like myself, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, and Pascal Laugier have all been getting sent the same scripts, it's not like Hollywood is interested in us as individual talents," he adds. Mr. Bustillo (co-director of INSIDE) is in total agreement: "We [Julien Maury and I] have an American agent who couldn't understand how we could turn down directing a remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. He felt we were going to earn a lot of money and make a big hit -- why refuse? But for us, the screenplay wasn't any good, and we weren't going to be able to rewrite it. We're not interested in cheating, we want to make films we can be proud of."

Meh, their idea or definition of "not any good" could be multiple things; it could be that they felt it was too similar to the original, it could be that they wanted complete control over it and they didn't get that so they're nitpicking, or it could just be that they're wrong. I'm not putting much stock in that interview just yet.

Going by Michael Bay's involvement, I'll probably end up agreeing with the French men...
