Torch dies in New Invaders #9. The thing is,he dies of a heat overload,which is completely stupid,seeing as he's completely and utterly immune to heat.I expected as much from a series that had wolverine beat the snot out of namor.
anyway,torch dies to save the andriod Tara,who he looked at as a daughter.she was a weapon of the enemy,and she was set to overload and take everyone with her.torch took her energy and overloaded himself.it was an admirable death.too bad it was unneccessary.nothing but a attempt to bring significance to a series that only lasted 9 issues by destroying marvel's most important historical figure.anyway,what's done is done.
Looking at all the feats of badassery that jim hammond commits,it makes me sad that so many know little of him.i mean,the guy already frequently mouths off to and challenges namor,who's probably the most badass hotheaded "hero" in the history of marvel comics.then there's the fact that he incinerated hitler!.that's probably the most badass feat of badassery there's ever been.but no that's not all,i've recently found another feat for you guys(whoever you are) to enjoy.just like the sub-mariner,Jim Hammond gets into a fight with and owns none other then venom.
1.Torch fights his WCA teammate wonderman.it's short,and torch does pretty well.first he appears to be physically struggling agaist him(strength feat), then he gives him a good right.wonderman suckers him though when he's distracted because toro's in trouble. what a douche (please log in to view the image) (please log in to view the image)
2.Torch is encased in a cell of raining water(although still mustering up his flame).he uses a technique to try and disable a guy that enters in,he does,but not in the way he wanted.the guy was a robot. (please log in to view the image) (please log in to view the image)
4.Torch engages ironman.i believe that is a fiery hand he catches him with.maybe we'll see the outcome of this fight next issue.maybe it was just a short skirmmish though, and in that case,that makes it a stalemate (please log in to view the image)
oh, and here in the scan of Avengers #131. the guy who brought the human torch back(kang, i believe) states that torch can threaten vision's physical being, make what you want of that
just wanted to add these two pages i deemed insignificant at first. but one shows hammond doing something pretty cool,so i thought i'd add them.thanks to supertorch400 from herchat.com for supplying the two scans. i sure as hell didn't wanna spend time uploading them.lol:
i could post some heroes for hire stuff. i have em. never bothered to post it though. maybe i'll skim through it again and see if there's something worth posting about him there.
i've seen some of your threads.if they don't always get many posts then i definitely shouldn't be whining.lol, but really, i love that hawkman/hawkgirl thread.
3.This one is impressive. Jim puts Thena, THE ETERNAL, down with a hook.although she didn't expect it and torch was under mind-control, he still gave her a run.there's also another endurance feat here.Thena use her telekenetic powers to slam hammond hard against a wall, but he is unphazed, even though i'd assume she was really trying to rough him up. seeing as she said she'd destroy him and all (please log in to view the image) (please log in to view the image) (please log in to view the image) (please log in to view the image)
