I beat it on heroic in just about 6 hours. It was short but I'd say this was the best out of all the halo games so far in terms of level design. Nothing ever feels repetitive, there's a good variety of environments, and each section is pretty large with a lot of detail.

The cutscenes were awesome, especially the opening, and martin o'donell once again made a great score.

the only thing I didn't like was how they told the story through flashbacks. at first playing as the rookie at night was cool but eventually you just want to get into the action again. those sections had pretty much no purpose other than to look nice.

I didn't get into firefight just yet but so far everything else is great

Yeah but to make this campaign shorter than the one from the previous Halo 3 game feels wrong. Even Halo 2's campaign felt longer than those two. No way am I spending sixty dollars on a game that can't deliver a good long campaign. This game has "RENTAL" written all over it. I don't think the game sucks, I'm just disappointed that's all.

Well it is a Expansion and for those people who have played those sort of things on PC they are of course alot shorter then the main game.

The thing is they said its not an expansion, that its a full game if I remember.

Had a chance to buy this earlier, I considered it but I can't see myself playing it much.

Well "x-play" says it's like an expansion with the real sequel (or in this case, prequel) being Halo Reach.

i have it odst but can't play it onlone yet. i'll be able to get on live tomorrow when it's safe.

Then it should've cost $40, not 60. Adding the extra 20 feels like a rip off.

Thats how I see the game. $40 for the actual game and $20 for the map disc. When the map pack disc came out for Halo 2 it was about $20 I believe. For those of us that already had the maps it wouldnt matter but for those that didnt, its a bargain.

But for a Halo game, I would think most dedicated ODST buyers are Halo fans who already have Halo 3 and the maps.

What Halo 3 gamer doesn't have those maps? It's stupid that they have this game feel like a rip off just because they're giving us something we already have. That'd be like saying an expansion to Epic's Gears of War 2 costs $60 just because it has a few extra maps for Horde Mode which I'm sure all of us already have.

The way I see is this is Halo's version of the Orange Box.

The difference is that the Orange Box came with Episode 1, 2, Portal and TF2. The only thing that was released on a console before Orange Box was Half Life 2 but that was a console generation before the current one.

I think it was the same price...I think. That was a crazy good deal for console gamers. For PC, well, less of a deal because HL2 and Episode 1 was already released and cheap but Portal, TF2 and Episode 2 was well worth the 59.99 price.

Trust me, I play with some fools that to this day dont have all the maps. Some are too cheap and others have 2nd, 3rd accounts. They shouldve given us the option to buy the game without the map pack. Then again with the map pack disc u dont have to keep downloading the maps everytime u make a new profile. I believe u can even delete the maps that we downloaded and just use the new disc. Free up some memory.

The way I see it is $40 for the game $10 for the last 3 Mythic maps and $10 for the Reach Beta invite. The other maps are bonus for anyone who does not own Halo 3.

Nemesis, $40 for the campaign, $10 for the NEW maps which aren't avaliable any other way, and $10 for the beta. Alot of people payed $60 for the Halo 3 beta, because, lets face it, Crackdown was a fun game, but the real reason it sold so many copies was for the beta. No one I know would have even considered buying Crackdown were it not for the Halo 3 Beta.

Your paying 10 bucks for a beta? So essentially your paying money for a buggy beta and your "job" is to help fix those bugs.

I don't know when the beta starts, but with purchasing ODST you will be able to play it when it actually launches.

Not Necessiarily. I didn't run into a single bug in the Halo 3 Beta, nor have I run into one in the Uncharted Beta. I also didn't run into any bugs when I tried the Aion beta, but I will admit that my computer had such trouble running it that I could have run into a bug and never known it. Playing the beta is essentially getting a head start on playing the multiplayer of Reach.

Yes, Betas are a field-test, but by that point, a great portion of the bugs have already been fixed. They make these public betas for 2 reasons (1) Allowing thousands of people online at once opens the opportunity for things to happen that the team never consitered and (2) to get the public excited for the game and hopefully up sales of the game when it is actually released.

No it's not.

It's software that has passed alpha stage and is ready for live testing. That's what a beta is.

A demo is the portion of the game and used as a marketing tool. Beta's are turning into those but in the end, there used to test. You might not find any big bugs but there is, probably on the network side of things.

Essentially, your paying 10 bucks to test the game for Bungie when usually they are free.

ODST's main focus was the campaign, even with a new campaign added to Gears 2(making it like 2.5) still wouldnt sell due to the fact that Epic fails at story telling. I am being serious when I say that ODST has the most fun campaign since Halo 1. Truly epic on the last level. I am truly tired of people b*tching about price, something that is never a set factor. A review factor should never be price anyway. Wait a few months and then get it, it should be cheap enough for you then.

anyone else not like the rookie sections? like I said before it was cool at first but enemies just drop randomly and not very often, which makes it a long tedious jog from point A to B.
