While not ending well for him, Doom's rematch against Doctor Voodoo revealed additional abilities afforded to him through his armor: (i) he has a Personal Actuality Shield than protects him from Nightmare's magicks of the Unreal; (ii) he is able to convert matter to energy (even a living entity like Nightmare!); and (iii) his Personal Adapters are able to absorb the entirety of humanity's subconscious black energy, from Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural #5:
Doom's vast sorcerous knowledge is displayed during Doomwar: (i) when confronted by the tenth lock to Wakanda's entire vibranium store, Doom perceptively discerns that it involves alchemical symbols; and (ii) effortlessly conjures the correct spell, i.e., a blood sacrifice, from Doomwar #1:
During their battle with Nightmare's Army, Doctor Voodoo was waylaid by the Ghost Rider's Penance Stare. Doom then drags him to safety, (i) reversing its effects with his sorcery, and (ii) revealing that he protected the Book of the Vishanti. One can only guess how long he pried its secrets for, from Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural #5:
Doom's interest in the occult is further manifested by his use of nosferatu minions, who attack and overwhelm Rulk, from Fall of the Hulks: Red Hulk #2:
^ Doom is as Doom does. This latest fight is not a physical one, but one of pure strategy and wits. Here, Doom contends with T'Challa's final lock to Wakanda's entire Vibranium store. It is a puzzle: "Only through purity unencumbered by pretense may you pass." Time is running out, as the Dora Milaje, X-Men, Shuri and Black Panther begin overrunning the Desturi insurgents and Doombots. When T'Challa finally confronts him, Doom forces him to choose between the life of his wife, Ororo Munroe or the Vibranium.
^ I agree. Here's an update brought up from another thread. This should summarily dismiss any notions that Doom can be conveniently defined by his powerset. For in a fight with a foe who is by all rights, his equal in technology, it is the true Doom who proves to be more than a match for such an imposter even when the entire battlefield setting is against him. This should harken back (or forward, chronologically speaking) to Doom's duel with Reed w/ Doom's armor.
"In all creation, there can be but one true Doom!":
Doom's scientific acumen has produced several very helpful inventions. Here, when X-Force attempts to infiltrates Doom's castle, Nathaniel Richards reveals that an Ionic Field prevents teleportation into the castle, from X-Force #63:
The cornerstone of Doom's campaign against T'Challa and Wakanda were his Nanite Camera Swarms "-- each individual member contributing part of a larger picture that would transmit what they saw and heard." They were introduced into palace food and water supplies so that Doom could use T'Challa's own ruling administration as inadvertent spies. And even T'Challa's own scientific acumen isn't enough to thwart their infiltration, from Doomwar #3:
Doom isn't relegated to creating his own drones from scratch. He's also repurposed existing designs. Here, Doom repurposes a Super Adaptoid to fight the Fantastic Four, from Fantastic Four #336:
His most recent repurposed design is the Destroyer Armor's, powered by the lifeforce of slain Asgardians. Although unfinished, it is still formidable enough to fight Thor, from Thor #605:
It's now revealed how Doom passed through T'Challa's final lock to Wakanda's entire Vibranium store, "Only through purity unencumbered by pretense may you pass." Doom removes his armor and comes face to face with Bast, Cat God of Egypt, the Panther God. This isn't an encounter of fisticuffs, but of pure resolve.
The crisis building in Doomwar is the fear of what Doom can do with Wakandan Vibranium. Wakandan sorcerers could never figure out how to harness Vibranium into amplifying mystical energies which "taps into an energy flow on the quantum level that is virtually infinite." T'Challa believes that Doom has mastered the secret of using magically charged Vibranium, and he now has it all, from Doomwar #1:
But the real reason why Doom has Layla Miller in Latveria is to utilize her foreknowledge... which he has done so for an entire year, from X-Factor #202:
Which makes you wonder at the convenient timing with which Doom revealed his surveys into future timelines where Earth ends up in post-apocalyptic futures. Much like the post-apocalyptic future Layla was trapped in during her Summers Rebellion adventure, from Doomwar #3:
In World War Hulks, Doom struggles to free himself from Leaderville, a machine originally created by Doom and repurposed against him and the most intelligent men in the world, by the Intelligencia. Doom is the only one with the will to see through the illusion and confronts Banner directly to break them all free. But Doom's hubris manages to bar him from the ultimate victory.
Doom's armor has endless armaments. One of them includes his ability to project a cube of "ultra-dense molecular bonds, and constantly shifting field frequencies" which can contain even the elusive creature, Divinity, able to penetrate molecule-sized gaps and forcefields alike, from Heroes Reborn: Ashema #1:
As shown before, Doom's armor can also instantly teleport him. He makes use of that ability in Heroes Reborn: Ashema #1 and most recently in Doomwar #2:
And those Nanite Camera Swarms he used to precipitate Doomwar? He's used a variation of them before on the Counter-Earth that Franklin Richards created, to empower a normal human with the power to hurl lances of nuclear plasma, dubbing her Lancer, from Heroes Reborn: Doomsday #1:
Naturally, the Nanites permitted Doom to actually view, examine and analyze everything his new minion experienced. But they also permitted Doom to project knowledge -- such as instantaneous understanding of the Atlan langauge -- into Lancer as well, from Heroes Reborn: Ashema #1:
All out war has been waged against Doom and his operations. While I usually only post fights Doom engages in personally, these battles definitely showcase Doom's ability to wage war campaigns and how formidable his magically enhanced Vibranium is. But it's definitely not over, as a new player makes his entrance into Doomwar.
Doom vs T'Challa, Shuri, Storm, the Fantastic Four, and all of Wakanda, from Doomwar #4:
^ Already posted that on previous page. But always appreciate the heads-up on anything that might be missing.
Here's an untold story of a fight between Doom and the FF that takes place chronologically between his his fight with FF/Daredevil and Reed and Sue's wedding. I guess as a homage to those classic stories, the author decides to revolve the story around none other, than the Ovoid Mind Transfer.
Doom vs the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, and Namor, from Spiderman/Fantastic Four #1:
The endgame. Doom completes his Vibranium Armor which connects him to every particle of Wakandan Vibranium on Earth. Everybody confronts Doom but it would always come down to T'Challa and Doom.
