Both Lord of the Rings movies are better than both the Star Wars prequel movies. It's not even a competition. Star Wars is a joke compared to Lord of the Rings.
As far as acting, action, music, etc etc goes. Lord of the Rings wins. People were comparing the love scenes in Attack of the Clowns to the ones in Lord of the Rings. If you think the love scenes in Star Wars are better than the ones in Lord of the Rings- Yer a ****n retard!!!!!!!!! Acting is no competition since- the acting in Star Wars SUCKS!!! Action is cool in both movies. SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE TERRIBLE IN STAR WARS!!! TERRIBLE!!! Gollum kicks Yoda's and Jar Jar's ass', 100%. If you think otherwise, yer dumber than a dumb monkey who suffers from R.E.T.A.R.D!

steve-o, that was the stupidest post I've seen in a good while. and if we're actually to take the post serious this needs to be said; the AOTC special effects are still a little better than TTT.
yeah, and listen to what the inlay in the official soundtrack cd says about one part of the music played when that was shown: "Dermot Crohan plays the signature sound of Rohan on the Norwegian fiddle called a hardinger."
the greatest scene in the film for me so far ('ll probably change after second viewing): [SPOILER - highlight to read]: when Saruman and Grima Wormtongue are standing on the platform on the tower, watching out on the thousands of orcs and we see Grima shedding a tear. It tells SO much about his character and it's an amazing thing of PJ to add, magical moment that moves you when you've read the book.
The special effects in Attack of the Clowns were- YES- good special effects, but Lucas put too much in it- and it made it look retarded. IT WAS LIKE A FRICKN FINAL FANTASY MOVIE IN SOME SCENES!! The special effects in Two Towers were amazing. Didnt use too much- and it made it look a lot better. So COMPARED to Two Towers- the special effects SUCK in Attack of the Clowns.
No, I can't agree. SW still has better effects, though LOTR is notably better in some places. And notably behind in others- like seperation, as Mah says, you can see the joins in the Treebeard scenes. I do not think I have ever seen any special effect to match the digital Obi-Wan in the Jango Fett fight. The digital Legolas sticks out like a sore thumb.
And please calm down on the insults, Steve-O.
Well, finally saw this tonight, very impressed, glad to see my favourite people (The Riders of Rohan) in action though I think it could have been more pointed out that they are a nomadic people currently living in Rohan rather than a long-established Kingdom like Gondor, which is why there are so few of them and why they live in wooden forts rather than places like Helm's Deep, which is an ancient ruin they use for convenience. I mean, as presented, doesn't it look dumb they are living in wooden motte-and-bailey jobs when there are these big stone castles they seem to have built?
I am surprised the explanatory line- well used in the animated version- was missing, from Aragorn to Gandalf "The Riders of Rohan are the finest warriors I have ever seen, but they were never many." Pretty much sets up the whole deal very quickly.
But yes, marvellous stuff, on the whole, even if plot-wise you are stuck with the Frodo storyline of basically ending up right back where he started.
Saruman's use of gunpowder rather than Magic was interesting, but having expended no power breaching Helm's Deep one does wonder why he did nothing at all against the Ents. Oh well!
Great stuff. I imagine it will be the best of the trilogy.
BTW, frankly... whilst again Orlando Bloom played his role with great style, it was NOT a role that could ever display great acting. He had no real characterisation scenes. Orlando Bloom still cannot be classed as a great actor from what we see here. He had no more chance to do so here than in FOTR.
