It's what I've been telling you guys, Rebellion makes crappy games. It lost its magic after they were done with the previous AvP titles. I can't believe Colonial Marines got delayed again for this garbage. And here I had faith this game wouldn't suck but boy was I wrong. Like Tiger Wood's wife, we need to move on and start anew and forget this $#!+ even happened.
i agree with your assessment satsujin. out of the three races i enjoyed playing as the alien the most but its definitely what i would consider to be an "advanced race". its definitely an opportunist race... rushing gets you nothing.
the wall running isnt bad though imo once you get used to it... my biggest gripe with it is that there isnt like a dedicated "drop" button (jumping only works half the time). if youre running on the ceiling and someone is directly under you its like a minigame in itself trying to get back onto the ground...
i think anyone who has been disappointed in the game needs to just wait and see how it is when it gets released. who knows how different it might be, plus, they really picked possibly the weakest mode to showcase the game in ffa deathmatch, imo.
I loved the demo. I haven't stopped playing it. The Alien vision is sweet, I love how most people are playing Aliens all wrong. They're supposed to be the stalk-and-kill type, common sense. Yet I've seen a few players trying to go into levels as a Xeno and try to Rambo a whole room. Not even clinging to walls or anything. Can't wait to see what they change in the final game.
What exactly does vision mode do? I tried it out when I was alone when playing Alien, but I didn't really see anything happening, and then I simply forgot about it later when near other people.
Also, didn't the Aliens in AVP2 have this crazy cool jump attack that could cross quite a distance? Didn't figure out how to do anything like that.
Unfortunly thats not what Nemesis X talking about when he said "its garbage"...... he was talking about the game itself going by what other peolpe have played of the demo not this Port buisness your going on about.
Honestly guys, its's a demo. Give it a chance. If you still hate the game after you've played the full version, then have at it, but until then, i think any statements as to it's quality are a tad premature.
The demo definitely has a lot of problems. It' annoys me that everytime i look down when playing as the ALien, my hands sink into the ground like water. It's just a demo so i'll reserve judgment until the release because i'm really only looking forward to the single player aspect. The multiplayer is just a bonus for me. The Alien better a lot better to play with in the final version, though because it's totally weak and takes just a couple hits to drop. I'm sure it'll be better upon release but as for now the multiplayer feels a lot like Marine vs Predator.

Yeah, the reason I call the wall running clunky is because everytime I try to descend from say.. a stairwell.. a ledge..or even a damn box, I auto-bind and then get screwed over... and then like you said.. when I try anything remotely tricky like trying to spiral down a hallway, trying to get off the ceiling is a real chore. Basically almost anytime I try to involve surface transition, it ends up with me dying because the camera is too busy playing catch-up, which in turn the controls play catch-up.. and having to have a lock-on in order to lunge really hurts alien, since it was used for mobility also.. I mean you kinda can.. but nowhere near AvP2 wall craziness
I mean there is technically a dedicated drop button (pressing the damn transition button again *eyeroll*) but, I think it would be better for them to just stop auto-transitioning upon descent (having auto-transition off doesnt apply to this for some reason)
the vision mode I was talking about was the passive life aura (seeing enemies through walls)..knowing the precise location down to the direction your enemy is facing is key to not dying as an alien
the mode you're talking about is focus.. and its what you have to do in order to do the aliens / preds lunge attack.. also, preds focus allows him to find weapon pickups, and energy recharge station.. aliens is purely for lunge attack
hold "focus" button (left trigger on 360), then when a target comes within distance, youll see a ripple on them for alien, and a target lock for pred.. and you just hit light attack, and they'll lunge attack..

I have a demo of Prototype and it plays exactly like the full game. I don't think the gameplay will be any different when AvP is released so think this carefully before your fanboyism for Aliens and Predators takes over your mind and you want to go spend your $60.
didnt know about that...i was wondering what focus mode did.
as for people saying that the alien has overtly weak health i think its balanced out by the fact that its the only race of the three (actually not sure about predator) that actually regenerates health over time. you can have almost 0 health and be back to 100% in about 30-40 seconds... the thing that some people on LIVE dont seem to realize is that the alien simply isnt designed to soak damage, youre allowed leeway healthwise to get shot a couple times when peeking out across a hallway or when someone ambushes you to get away, but thats it. the alien moves so fast especially with sprint that if youre stationary long enough to get melee'd twice or shot a couple of times then youre just not playing the alien correctly.
general tips as an alien are
-never stop moving unless an enemy is looking right at you but he doesnt seem to have noticed you. if you want to stop to scope out the area do so from the ceiling or if youre in the main biggest room do so from the rafters. but always keep in mind that the longer you stand still the greater the chances of someone sneaking up on you or noticing you.
- never run around on the ground, period. for one thing youd be utterly surprised how many people simply do not ever look up. ive watched people literally run up and down hallways completely oblivious to me chilling right above them. even with fashlights/visors/heartbeat they dont notice you... also if youre on the ceiling that makes it impossible for anyone to do a one-hit trophy kill on you. they can only regular hit you which gives you a chance to sprint away.
as an added bonus the aliens heavy attack (with the tail) has such a long range that even if youre on the ceiling you can still hit someone below you on the ground. takes two hits to kill a human and i think 3 for a predator.
- never fight someone in an h2h battle even a human unless you know they have really low health. humans seem weak in h2h but they have a habit of getting lucky with the pulse rifle spray+melee attack. preds dominate h2h for obvious reasons.
- if you get ambushed dont try to fight back, you will die. aliens just dont have the health to get hit first and shrug it off. best thing you can do is run and let your health regenerate. if youre on the ground and you get attacked (which is what is most likely cause if you were on the ceiling you wouldnt have gotten ambushed in the first place! ), aim up at the ceiling and jump straight up onto it spiderman style and sprint away in any direction. if youre on the ceiling you honestly dont even need to know where youre going or try to head in anywhere in particular... just hold the sprint button and move around just enough so that you dont run into a wall. guarantee you that by the time you stop you'll be like... on the ceiling on the other side of the map
its like krav maga bursting cowardly xenomorph style!
- break every light you come across. its really helpful.
-never ever attack people from the front unless theyre right in front of you and have really low health
-apparently you can "block" by pressing RB and LB (on 360)... so give that a try if its fight or die scenario.
and they all lived happily ever after
edit ooh ohh i forgot one!
- if you have a mic try try to communicate with the other alien players and team up. its a lot more fun that way
double edit- despite all these tips i actually suck as an alien much better as a human the last three or four play throughs i scored in the 20's
