I think as people get older they just get conservative.

Was it called the ding dong song? If not...that's a tragedy.

No, I'd never vote for those pricks, they're barely even an ideology-fuelled party and more one fuelled on personal greed. Less a party than a gang.
Well, that was Blair's fault for going to war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Bad moves that damaged the country. The economic crash of 08/09 also plays a big part. Then the Tories stroll in and start spewing their cruelty juice everywhere.
All of these things suck, but getting in a socialist to 'sort everything out' 'because he's such a nice guy' is a dangerous remedy to a complex situation, one that I'm not willing to try.
Until there is a decent opposition party to the Tories, or until the Tories start representing actual Conservative ideals without using them as a way of lining their own pockets, they can all get stuffed, and my Abstain vote will be my way of showing disappointment and disillusion with the current system.
I've always held conservative beliefs, I was just never taught what the differences between left and right were. I essentially thought, long ago (but the ethos stuck for the longest time, even subconsciously) that Left and Right = Right and Wrong, Good and Evil. Which is ridiculous.
I did a bit of research and realised all of these incongruous views and principles I hold and have kind of always held are actually decent, sensible Conservative ideals.
Still by no means 'a' Conservative, putting a label on my set of complex political beliefs is difficult even just from a practical point of view – lots of my beliefs could be either Social Liberal, Classic Liberal, or else Libertarian.
When you stop seeing life as a huge Marxist power struggle and stop being so pessimistic about Western civilisation, it tends to wake you up a bit socially and politically, imo.
