I'm hoping that the offended SJW bullshit trend drives the right to fully embrace free speech, and that then the left realises its ideological idiocy and then also accepts free speech, and then everyone except the extremists actually understand and believe in free speech as a general concept because I really like free speech personally
Also who specifically in your government wants to arrest people over jokes? Cuz in our own government even though for now it's controlled by the right it's not 100% right wing there are leftovers from when Obama was president as well. Not sure if it's the same in your government.

Well I don't know about int he UK, but in this country conservatives are definitely embracing free speech more than before(there are some exceptions of course).

We've had conservatives in power for a while now, since 2011 I believe, but PC culture definitely started spreading much earlier than that – it's just that this government has realised that it can use those same tactics in the name of political correctness to achieve their own insipid authoritarian goals. Basically exactly what Peterson has warned of, handing weapons to your enemies due to lack of foresight.
