Ozzy sues
Ozzy Osbourne has sued former Black Sabbath band mate Tony Iommi, accusing him of taking over the heavy metal band's name and costing him royalties from merchandise sales, the Associated Press reports.
The lawsuit accuses Iommi of falsely claiming to have sole rights to Black Sabbath's trademark during recent negotiations with a company that sells the band's merchandise, the AP said.
In a statement Friday, Osbourne urged Iommi to "do the right thing."
"We've all worked too hard and long in our careers to allow you to sell merchandise that features all our faces, old Black Sabbath album covers and band logos, and then you tell us that you own the copyright," Osbourne said. "We're all in our 60s now. The Black Sabbath legacy should live on long after we have all gone. Please do the right thing."
In a separate suit by Iommi against the merchandise company, he claims that he's been the only constant member in the band's 40-year history, the AP said.
