I've never been so tired in my life, but couldn't be more exhilarated either .
A few notes here for now and then a recap later when I can find the energy and time...
Mikey, I SO enjoyed sharing that show with you - every bit of it - not just the especially special part! (Oh, and I opened my poster and read what you wrote ... <tears up> ). Just meeting you was worth the trip - even without the show .
So the really funny thing that no one seems to have mentioned is that Mikey and Christian made friends across the catwalk before the show ever started. We were all standing there singing along with the recorded songs (like Cheap Trick's Surrender, etc.), and we noticed that Christian was singing along on the other side (of course, at that time, we had no idea who he was). Mikey and Christian started having a kind of contest to see who could remember all the words to the songs. This was all done via "sign language" and lip reading. We weren't that close to each other, but because there was no one between us (just the catwalk, the space on each side, and the barriers), we all had a good view of each other. So after the show, I made a point of going to find Christian and bringing him to meet Mikey. After all ... they both blew away the crowd with their awesomeness! So sorry you couldn't make it to the party, Christian. It was amazing (not to mention our new friend from the 7-11 who we dragged along and educated all about Green Day )!
I'm not sure what happened during AE, but I noticed it happening. I think I didn't get in on the beginning of it though. I noticed that Billie had the crowd doing hey-ohs and then I looked over and Mike had started singing again. The way it looked to me was that the crowd did the hey-ohs too long and Mike just had to start singing over us - but now I realize it was a bit different. I'll have to watch the vid (I've only watched two so far ... guess which ones ).
I can guarantee you that there was no pre-arranged set up of who would get pulled on stage. You should have heard Mikey and me scheming before the show. I think Billie had made a lot of eye contact with us earlier (and of course, he'd worn Mikey's glasses), so it was easier for him to find us in the crowd when the time came. But we worked hard to get Mikey up there. And let's just say that someone from GD's management had decided in advance that they wanted Mikey to sing Longview (they stalked our site, tracked down photos of Mikey, briefed Billie before the show with the photos and said - this is the guy you want to pull up on stage - then Billie had to go out on stage and find Mikey during the show - and of course, Mikey would have to just serendipitously show up on the front row where Billie could spot him - etc. - is all this starting to sound a bit far-fetched???). Billie has to go with whoever he can find in the crowd, and that's why sometimes he gets someone up there who can't sing at all. The band is always so surprised when they get someone who's truly great like they did in Seattle and Vancouver! The reason we've had so many GDCer's pulled up during the last shows is because we are rabid fans, a lot of us usually end up at the very front, AND we support each other. So I'm pretty sure Jnine and punkinhead on Mikey's other side were doing the same thing I was doing on my side, i.e. pointing to him and yelling he knows it - pick him - etc. I did the same thing for Kamran in Seattle when he started asking Billie to let him play guitar (even though I didn't know him before the show). All that positive energy just adds up and magical things happen!
Priscilla - I'm so glad you got a great spot! I didn't really get to see you again after we spoke outside, but I'm delighted you had such a good experience. Same with Megan and Erin - wow wasn't it just SO amazingly awesome???
Welshy, I'm delighted that someone from the forum got my scarf that Billie wore. If you ever decide you don't want it any more, I'd love to have it back someday. But I won't ask you for it, because I believe in sharing all the goodness if possible. My sunglasses that Billie wore in Seattle got thrown into the crowd, too, (but I had the foresight to get my son to take a photo of me wearing them before the show). I know when I hand BJ something during the show that I may never see it again .
Connietsang - are you the one who took Mikey's place on the barricade when he got pulled up? If so, I'm sorry if my arm kept pinching you on the rail. I really found Vancouver's crowd to be a lot rougher than Seattle's, and I was being pushed and shoved in all directions. I know I had to be hurting other people, but I couldn't help it. I'm not sure I would have made it in that crowd if I hadn't been on the rail. Mostly it was the surfers who seemed to keep coming right at us - and the people who just wanted to be pulled out but didn't surf their way over were the worst. Keeping my place while they were getting dragged over the rail by security was a scary experience at times - but I think anyone who was near me knows now how determined I am .
Zoe it was great to share two such amazingly awesome shows with you.
Everyone on the other side of the catwalk ... you know who you are I just loved seeing your faces every time I looked over that way. It's an amazing experience to be in a crowd of thousands of people and see my friends everywhere I look .
<sigh> it was SO SO SO incredible ... </sigh> Recap to follow (yeah, you know, this was just a few random thoughts ).
Jeremy: Some say that on really warm days, he sheds his skin like a snake, and that for some reason, he's allergic to the Dutch... all we know is, he's called the Stig.
i don't know, wasn't there like different versions of the hells angels arpound the world anyway? or it could be to guard the rolling stones or something
In August 2007 a Hells Angels member, Gerry Tobin, was shot dead on the M40 motorway by members of a rival motorcycle gang, the Outlaws.[80] Those responsible received life sentences in November 2008. Tobin was returning home to London, where he worked as a Harley service manager, from the Bulldog Bash.
In January 2008, there was a brawl between up to 30 Hells Angels and Outlaws at Birmingham International Airport. Police recovered various weapons including Knuckledusters, hammers and a meat cleaver. Seven Outlaw members and five Hells Angels faced trial as a result. [81]
