I usually don't start from scratch, the first time I beat it, it took me 10 hrs, when I was on professional, I was at like idk, I don't think I was at 5 hrs yet, but I was at Krauser, I just ran out of bullets and never wanted to beat it.

I used to play it loads though. I only beat it on Professional once until I found it again yesterday, though, probably took about 9 hours or so, maybe more. Probably more. But then I completed it on Professional once yesterday with my old weapons (Tommy gun, infinite launcher etc.) for fun, then today challenged myself, or whatever.

Hardest bit about Prof mode is the button bashing though, I am absolutely abysmal at it. I'll spend ages just trying to do that one bit where you run away fron Salazar's statue since I suck so much and pressing buttons quickly.
