Last night Green Day rocked the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. From the first glance this looks like it is one of the best shows of the tour so far.
The setlist included rare songs such as 2000 Light Years Away, At the Library, Macy's Day Parade [acoustic], and Coming Clean [acoustic]. Once again Jesus of Suburbia is absent on the set list but American Eulogy is not back on after being missing the past few shows. If you would like to view the full set list just take a look at the first comment in the comments.
First post. Just got back to the hotel after my first ever Green Day concert. I always thought people were kind of over-exaggerating when they talked about how their concert was the best night of their life, but now that I've experienced it, I completely understand what they're talking about.
Franz Ferdinand came on stage right at 8:00 and I thought they did pretty well, for only having 30 minutes to win the crowd over. And even if you didn't love their set, you can't argue that the singers crazy legs and the guitar players insane strumming made it worth it!
As for Green Day. Wow. When the lights went out and Song of the Century started playing over the loud speaker I turned into a different person. As far as the set list, I have it in it's entirety except one song, which was a blur and I seriously cannot recall what song it was.
1) Song of the Century
2) 21st Century Breakdown
3) Know Your Enemy (During this song Billie stopped the band and told a security guard to cool it with the flashlight when a girl was trying to take a picture. The crowd went nuts for this!)
4) East Jesus Nowhere (he 'saved' a 6 year old girl named Alison from Chicago - yes she got booed. All Billie could do was shake his head. Then he played some of Alison by Elvis Costello. This was incredible, and I was the only one in my section singing along.)
5) Holiday
6) The Static Age
7) Before the Lobotomy (before Story Time was about how Billie drank his brothers piss and that he's drank piss 11 or 12 times since, but it's not for him)
8) Are We the Waiting
9) St. Jimmy
10) 2000 Light Years Away
11) Welcome to Paradise
12) At the Library (!!!!!!!)
13) When I Come Around
14) Medley (Iron Man/You Really Got Me/Shout at the Devil - there was another one played in between Iron Man and You Really Got Me, but I don't recall what it was)
15) Brain Stew (Billie got out the super soaker, toilet paper gun, and t-shirt canon!)
16) ??? This is the one I'm not sure about
17) Longview
18) Basket Case
19) She
20) King For A Day/Shout(Break On Through/Free Fallin'/I'll Be There)
21) 21 Guns
22) American Eulogy
ENCORE
23) American Idiot
24) Minority
ACOUSTIC ENCORE
25) Macy's Day Parade
26) Coming Clean (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
27) Good Riddence
So there you have it. I have to say, other than Jesus of Suburbia's omission (I was hoping they'd implement Homecoming) this is a near perfect set list! I can't wait till the second leg of the tour is announced so I can find a couple more shows to go to! An amazing night, that I know I'll be reliving in my head over and over and over again.
Really all I can say, looking back at it is "I Was There"
