I find that using the force is more fun...and armor stops many of the force powers.....if you are light side.,....[SPOILER - highlight to read]: go to Korriban first to get the Qel Droma robes that are hidden behind the big monster thingy you kill to rescue the rogue sith students.....it's +5 defense.....the best or one of the best jedi robes you'll find.
I can't play the game anymore....until the weekends because I'm at college....but I still remeber most of the game.
keep at it....It's still good 10 times later
