And Clyde is the most dangerous supervillain of all, and he's freed in Old Man Logan. This is referred to in Fantastic Four. So the whole thing is this big, intricate web. Each thing is self-contained but hopefully they make a cool, big story. It's my own little event. After Civil War I kind of wanted to do a one-man event.

in a future where the Fury didn't manage to stop him.

To further strengthen this futuristic vision,
Matrix/Merlin himself stated,
that if Jaspers was not stopped (by the Fury that it is)
then the Omniverse would fall into chaos, and a new God would play dice with matter.

Look, I have not even given my two cents on how this match would proceed. And I am not taking anything away from MJJ. But molding a dimension or a pocket universe within reality. And then changing his form into a transparent, does not really mean he replaced Eternity. Its more or less a testament of the degree, to his reality manipulation.
