I know that people love to argue about who would win between these two people, but it's generally not "serious" and they just say random stuff like "oh ninjas they know kung-fu (ninjas are japanese no chinese!)" or "ninjas they can disappear" blahblahblah.
Who wants to actually debate who would win historically?

Right
People keep piling on the mystique for pirates in order to make them seem like the equals of ninjas. There's no hard evidence that pirates had anything of the sort.

True that. Just look at this historical piece, how are the pirates going to deal with this level of skill and bad-assery? They can't, no way, no how. Mind you, this is a white ninja, they're at the bottom of ninja-dome and look what happens to a guy with a modern gun.

Since a ninja is all about NOT having direct combat, then they would win in almost any real world scenario.
The only direct combat I can think of is the surprise attack on the Iga stronghold.
Since when do Pirates travel far inland and attack a stronghold?
Certainly would.
Ninja's had all sorts of projectiles (which did not include throwing stars.) Guns were definitely around when Ninjas were around...so why would a ninja still be around if guns totally nulled ninjas? You do know that Japan was using guns much sooner than the Europeans, right?
