Id hazard a guess at a definite 2010 release, the game seems ready , and all they're doing now is testing and in-house playthroughs, they'll post up the Necromancer profession officially like the others, then i think they'll start the run up to release.
November would be a good bet.
oH, and during the demo this morning (even though my german si not great by any means) i think the mc accidentally referenced a 'Scout' class. Don't hold me to that though.

No way, 16 months away from completion? Thats too long, no game is made playable at a games show AND developer office at the same time co-oping, and is still over a year away from a finished product. If not November, id say Jan-Feb, but were looking at less than 6 months from release fo'shure.
I'd say spring at the earliest, myself. Sure, it looks ready now, but I highly doubt it'll come out this year. And just because the demo looks so complete doesn't mean the entire game is. I'm sure they polished the stuff they were going to do for the demo up for this.
If only they'd give us some indication of a beta, since Anet has said that the beta is going to be very close before the game's release.
The game looks sweet, and if it's going to be with no monthly fee like the first one than I am heavily considering buying it.
One thing of note I'd like for them to work on is the death animations. Minor, but, it's kind of weird how each NPC dies in the same way. Like, if you're surrounded by 5 orcs or w/e and you kill them all simultaneously they'll all do the same clutch their chest and fall down animation. Different death animations per npc would be a cool aesthetic polish.

Cool stuff. The events requiring larger groups could be interesting if done well. I like long event chains. The big choices intrigue me, and I'm very interested in how changes you affect are persistent until others come along.

Take a look at the Divinity's Reach city divisions- Salma District, as in Princess/Queen Salma, will be the Krytan one. Rurikton must be Ascalonian, and Ossan Quarter will be Elonian (yay!). But what does that leave for the Canthans? The Great Collapse?

I really, really liked that demo, definitley gotta keep an eye out on this one. Have any of you read any of the novels? I never got into GW, but if I pick up this one I'd like to be familiar with the lore of the world and how the magics etc work (like; can anyone become an elementalist or is it genetic etc?).
Also, have they said anything about RP dedicated servers, or are all the same?
Ooooh, tons of videos. I'll make sure to watch them all when I get home...
Ghosts of Ascalon (the only GW book, btw) is a decent read. I think it spent too much stuff explaining stuff from the first game, but if you're not familiar with it at all that's not necessarily a bad thing.
And nope, no news on server types, though I'd be surprised if there were RP servers - unlike something like WoW, there's very little in the way of people RPing on their own in the game. Probably because you have an actual story to play through, so you're not stuck making up your own to keep things interesting
lol.. everytime I come across RP server and WoW in the same sentence.. I'm instantly reminded of that one dude blogging about how he accidentally walked into the tram to find two Night Elves cybering
I seriously hope that mess wont be up in GW2.. I personally feel like making the character (which I always spend at least 10-15 minutes making my characters), and then playing through the story RP enough for me
Thanks for the info, I'll most likely pick it up sometime before Guild Wars 2 is released then, fi I find the time (considering re-reading all WoT novels before the new one is released...).
