RETROSPECTION- Xavier vs. Cabas
RETROSPECTION- Xavier vs. Friste
THE SET-UP: The plot that Friste Tem put into place to use the Army of the Sith General Mortez has been foiled by the efforts of the Jedi Xavier Kolarn... but at the cost of his allignment in the Force. Unleashing his anger and hatred in order to destroy Friste once and for all, Xavier has fallen to the Dark Side, and it is the duty of his mentor, Jedi Master Ko Cabas, to bring him in or put him down! Xavier has lost control of himself and goes to assault his father figure.
ANALYSIS: Cabas taught Xavier everything he knows about using a lightsaber, and has certainly displayed much greater skill than Xavier in the past. However, Cabas was debilitated by Friste in their first encounter; without an arm, he will find duelling more difficult. Furthermore, Xavier is in peak physical condition and now driven by his anger and the power of the Dark Side.
SCORE:
Cabas- 0, Xavier- 0.
Xavier to attack, Cabas to defend.
"You have chosen poorly, Xavier," Cabas says, holding his lightsaber out before him. "I never thought my student would turn out this way."

Xavier sits in the back of his mind. He watches as his Master's face sinks and sags like he saw before when Cabas was after losing his arm. It's as if the fire in Cabas had extinguished. All Xavier wants to do is lower himself at his feet and seek whatever punishment is his.
Yet when Xavier's arms move it is not his doing. The other half is in control and all Xavier can do is watch as the last vestiges of his willpower leave him.
"Your Student is mine now Cabas, and you have failed us," says the sinister voice, the dark half of Xavier Kolarn.
Then suddenly Xavier moves with the strength of a bull and charges forward into Cabas' guard attempting to knock him backwards.

Cabas knows that he cannot meet Xavier straight on when his much more physically capable student charges him down. Instead, Cabas breaks his solid stance and slips off to the side, slicing for Xavier's side. Your blades clash as you break your stride to block...
SCORE:
Cabas- 1, Xavier- 0.
Cabas to attack, Xavier to defend.
"You have only failed yourself!" Cabas shouts. He performs a feint as his lightsaber sizzles through the air towards Xavier's face, instead reversing his blade skillfully and trying to bat Xavier's defense aside.

He meets Cabas' attack with a graceful parry,and counter thrust.

Hard pressed to switch between offense and defense with only one hand, Cabas' desire to refuse a cybernetic replacement has offered him a new challenge that he may not be able to master. Xavier's counterstrike gets the better of him and he spins clear to avoid spitted upon the incoming thrust.

Cabas- 1, Xavier- 1.
Xavier to attack, Cabas to defend.
"I WAS there for you! It was you that abandoned the Order to hunt down Friste, against the will of the Council!"

"You would have Xavier denied his glory, his honor, WE SHALL NOT BE DENIED," Xavier proclaims.
With that Xavier thrusts downward with his green saber trying to knock Cabas' own away before coming over top with the other blade.

"A Jedi does not seek glory," Cabas says. "A Jedi seeks justice!"
Xavier has strength that Cabas cannot match with his defensive stance. The green lightsaber smashes down on Cabas and he pulls back to avoid being cut in two down his center.
SCORE:
Cabas- 1, Xavier- 2.
Cabas to attack, Xavier to defend.
At this point, the cavern begins to rumble violently. Without the Key of Mortez to maintain control over it, the mighty machine that takes up much of the cavern is starting to spark and rattle. Some of the pods connected to it start to smoke and burn. You sense great danger in here...
...but you don't have time to dwell on it, as Cabas kicks off of the ground and attempts a midair strike for Xavier's throat.

Your lightsabers skillfully connect with Cabas' single orange saber with a bright clash and the attack is brushed aside, but Cabas goes with the momentum of your blow and spins about in mid-air to bring another attack into your exposed side. You duck and roll and the two of you come up facing each other, blades locked.
Round draw, to attacker.

Cabas- 2, Xavier- 2.
Xavier to attack, Cabas to defend.

Xavier feels Cabas pressing against him.
"A Jedi does seek glory, but it his by right as it is Xavier's," Xavier says.
Then with a mighty push he attempts to knock Cabas down to the floor.

"No, they do not," Cabas says. "A Jedi is meant to be humble and open to the will of the Force, not chasing the coattails of history so they can write their name down on it. But I suppose you may do so now that you are no longer a Jedi!"
Cabas throws his weight into the lock just as you do, resulting in a contest of strengths. Unfortunately for Cabas, his body is not up to the task. Xavier throws his old Master to the ground.
SCORE:
Cabas- 2, Xavier- 3.
Cabas to attack, Xavier to defend.
From the floor, Cabas points his lightsaber at you and extends his arm as far it will reach in a powerful thrust, putting strength behind it by throwing his shoulder forward and raising his torso up and through the thrust.

Xavier's vision is blurry at the sounds of Cabas telling him he is no longer a jedi, but once again it is not him in control.
His reserve gone Xavier jumps over Cabas' thrust and attempts to kick it to the side.
"If we are no longer a Jedi, then tell us 'Master' what are we," the sarcasm in Xavier's voice is high.

Despite his old age, Cabas' thrust is too fast for you to safely kick aside. Instead the tip burns into Xavier's ribcage before he recoils, a small hole charred into his clothing.
"A thing of madness, Xavier," Cabas says as he recovers from the floor.
SCORE:
Cabas- 3, Xavier- 3.
Xavier to attack, Cabas to defend.
"Just listen to yourself!" Cabas shouts. "Hear what you are saying!"
The floor around you is starting to crack and splinter, steam venting up through the seams of the cavern.

Xavier hears Cabas shout as the steam erupts all around them.
"Oh Ko Cabas, Xavier can hear everything you say, the sad thing is the pathetic fool would drop to his knees before you and do as you ask. He is your lap dog through and through. I won't let him though. He is I, and I am him, and WE ARE LEGION!"
Just then as a stream erupts around them Xavier charges brings both sabers into hte ground and upward into the sky attempting to cut Cabas in two.

Cabas is at first caught off-guard by the total unveiling of Xavier's pseudo-Gerasenian issues; the stronger and younger fighter slams into Cabas with a now seething rage as his negative emotions completely take over. But the old Master is not without sense and times his response well; Cabas arranges his footing so that when Xavier slams into him, he is able to subtley sway one foot into his opponent's and send his fallen student crashing to the ground himself.
SCORE:
Cabas- 4, Xavier- 3. Match point to Cabas.
Cabas to attack, Xavier to defend.
Following up his trip, Cabas spins and slashes along the ground towards Xavier's midsection, aiming to bisect him with extreme prejudice.

Xavier swirls one lightsaber above him at Cabas' blade, and the other one at his old Master's feet.
Then he rolls away from Cabas unto his feet.
"You seem a little caught off guard old man."

Cabas refuses to be fed the taunting bait and keeps his concentration on the fight at hand, but he is still distracted by the fact that this fight is occuring at all. Xavier holds up a sword defensively, but it is his lashing out for Cabas' legs that decides this round- the old Master finds himself springing up and away only a moment after he has just touched down.
SCORE:
Cabas- 4, Xavier- 4.
Xavier to attack, Cabas to defend.
The ground beneath the duellists is now splitting and cracking, while parts of the cavern's ceiling are beginning to give way. Large rocks begin to fall into the midst of the stasis pods, and so into the duel as well!

Xavier is completely oblivious to the rocks falling around them. As the ground begins to quake he points the red bladed saber at Cabas' face.
"That's his Master. He was right to idealize you. Made of steel, unflinching in the face of all things. You would never waiver even if meant taking you're own Padawan's life. You are a Jedi through and through. You truly are a great man, no wonder you were the only person ever to get more than skin deep with him. Taking your life, will be the greatest feat of my mine."
With that Xavier launches himself at Cabas, and brings a saber towards his master, then the other one as he attempts to shove his master into hte path of a falling rock.

A successful bid from Xavier to make use of his surroundings pays off. Unable to content with Xavier's strength, Cabas adopts a defensive stance that Xavier promptly smashes through, as the Master predicted. Instead of being knocked flat, Cabas rolls with the momentum and takes Xavier with him, kicking the younger man up onto his boot and flinging him backwards. However, Cabas is then struck on his shoulder with a heavy rock, giving Xavier time to recover before the Master launches his next attack.
SCORE:
Cabas- 4, Xavier- 5. Match point to Xavier.
Cabas to attack, Xavier to defend.
Moving in on Xavier, Cabas unleashes a yell of mental anguish and a series of lightning fast jabs towards Xavier's center, trying to break through his defenses and run him through.

Xavier raises one saber over head, and the other pointed to the ground. He will then take turns alternating between trying to deflect Cabas' blows. Then will try and land a quick to his mid section.
