What about Wurth Skidder? He was an important part of Kyp's Jedi. And Leia is about to lose her legs(well, maybe) and thats pretty important. I was a little upset that a major character wasn't taken out in Balance Point though. I keep thinking that one of the kids will die, probably Jacen or Anakin, it won't be Jaina, the only girl. I thought Lando would die, but he hasn't been in the NJO since Vector Prime. We do have a pregnant Mara with Luke's child, thats huge. I keep thinking this kid will be the answer to stopping the Vong, because of the disease maybe its a hybred of Vong and human. Either way something big is going to happen with the kid.....man, waiting for the next book is as hard as waiting for the next movie.
JM3838- did not want to see Chewie die in the midst of dozens of stormtroopers protecting the Solo's.
Keetch- Did want to see Chewie die in the above mentioned way.
I think that Wedge should be killed off, unless an author can find a way to make him an intriguing side kick again he'll be nothing more than a sentimental throw back to ANH, a 50 year old X-Wing pilot who leaves every battle alive to fly escort another day.
I think the only safe characters are the three Solo children. Although it would be very risky to knock off Leia, Han or Luke but with each novel series delving further and further into the Star Wars future they gotta die of old age at least.
I think that if Han and Leia are going to die, it will be together, sacfricing themselves for their children. Luke I don't see dying yet unless he finds a way to completely wipe out the enemy but it would require him to lose if life. But he and Mara are about to have a child and I don't think they would kill him before his kid is old enough to become a Jedi. And as far as the Solo kids go, I could see one of them dying. The most likely is Jacen. I can't really explain it, but he just seems the most likely.
Oh well, guess I'll stop worrying about Worth Skidder, my oen fault for following the thread I suppose.
As for deaths and the like. Names like Ackbar, Wedge and Lando have been mentioned but in all honesty who would care? They have all become very much background chracters, drifting off into retirement or back to the pre-rebelion interests.
If someone was to die, it would have to be Leia, Luke or Mara (maybe). However, I think that more character development is required for Jaina, Jacen and Anakin if they were to succeed their parents and carry the EU forward.

I think thats one of those "myths" you always here about. Supposidly Lucas has some film of the Falcon being destroyed at the 2nd Death Star. Supposidly, fan reaction was very bad, killing the only African-American wasn't the best of ideas.

It's not a myth JediOasis. Watch the OT with the interviews of Lucas at the beginning, in one of them (I believe ESB, he says that himself, that's why I just brought it up).

Alright, I believe you UBH. It would be cool to see that video, but I guess that goes without saying.

I must admit i was quite shocked when General Madine bit the big one in Darksaber, okay he was just a small character from ROTJ, but he was deemed important enough to get the Kenner action figure treatment. RIP General
Chewie shouldn't have died by getting killed by a planet that I agree with. I think some new sith lord should arise and kill him off while he's holding the sith off so his friends could escape. THAT would be a Chewbacca worthy death.
Oh, THANKS FOR RUINING THE BOOK FOR ME!!!
Lol, I like the way Chewie died.
And I like the epitaph: "How can a mere moon be a match for my son?"-Itchy (Chewie's father), Chewbacca (Dark Horse Comics, by Darko Macan).
