The Barbarian Invasions
Anyone seen this flick?
It's by Denys Arcand, whom I believe is French-Canadian. Anyway, it's a loose sequel to "The Decline of the American Empire," and in my opinion a lot better than it's predecessor.
Won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2004. I'm not a huge fan of the Oscars, but they got this one right I think, it's a very good film.
Thoughts?

This film is incredibly moving. It touched upon so many facets of every day life - love, death, sex, fidelity, family, ambition, religion, loyalty, forgiveness, and redemption.
I would recommend it to anyonew who has not seen it.

Yeah, I saw it in the theatre at the time. Very good.
Arcand is the most famous & respected filmmaker out of Quebec(ie. French Canada) He - along with David Cronenberg & Atom Egoyan - is one of the few who had put modern Canadian cinema on the map. His style is very much like that Ang Lee, Woody Allen & Mike Nichols; social comedy & satire.
