Bruce Lee was just an actor, anyway. He never fought professionally, just stated that his art was not ready and refused. The one eye-witness account of him actually fighting someone, he got his ass kicked.
Not everything you can readn on the internet is true. But who cares. Bruce Lee is dead, we will never know the whole truth but he deserves the respect, he was one of the best after all .
wtf are you talking about? you are a real moron bruce lee fought many street fights and always won thats how people got interested in him and made him an actor he defeated everybody in street fights and then he challenged anyone to beat him he fought while shooting a movie in thailand 3 nuay thai fighters and beat them all at once, he fought a boxer a big street fighter and he beat them all no one could defeate him
he never was defeated by anyone who is the eye witness you are talking about and who did bruce fight? that never happened the only time he was nearly defeated was when he was figfhting underground fights and he was injured but he won that fight so he never lost
Bruce Lee never lost a fight but he also never won an contest, contrary to popular believes. The fighting tech he shows in his films is ok but nothing more, though one shouldn't forget that he was an actor and the main goal was to impress the audience. However, the people he used to spar with, some of them great MA themselves, cherished him and said that he was the best, or in Lebells case, the best of his time.
The only facts we know about him. He was a good actor, had an incredible physical fitness, was a great dancer , an philosoph, great Martial Arts-tech, who was described as the best (by the only credible sources, his sparring partners), and the beginning of the modern MMA.
BTW JKD is not only about striking and kicking but also about grappling/wrestling. Bruce Lee assimilated it from Judo (Gene Lebell) and other techs, contrary to popular believes.
He is something like the (Mixed-) Martial Arts Superman. Though there were heroes before him, he started something new, something great, he became an legend and every MA out there is measured by his standard. That no one can take his place as the most famous MA is something a lot of fanboys can't accept.
There are now better techs and maybe better fighters. How good he would be in the MMA (supposed he would get the time to "catch up) doesn't really matter, because it ends only in speculation. He is dead but he will always be the first and greates modern-day MA. He deserves the respect and he earned the fame. RIP

What some person who says is now fact, is it? I've read many first hand accounts from other martial artists who say Lee never accepted any real fights. Sorry, your "facts" are just as suspect as mine.

well retardo if it wasnt true and he didnt beat all those fighters in the streets why were everybody so interested in him? it was writen in the newspapers as well as in many books that he defeated all the challengers who challenge him and was undefeated in the streets
bruce lee didnt want to fight in the ring because in the ring its just a sport where you cant hit deadly spots, cant hit major organs... also let me remind you that at the time of bruce lee full contact like MMA today wasnt allowed all they had was boxing and even the demonstrations in the video he demonstrated with pads and helmet and everything because full contact wasnt allowed back then , thats also the reason why bruce lee fought underground fights in the streets because only no rules no hold bar fight could really show his fighting system and not some sport with gloves and limitations
