I have to say, it does seem like a trivial thing to get banned for, previous history taken into account. I personally don't agree with the whole "straw that broke the camel's back" approach when it comes to punishment in any form; I'd take it as a case-by-case basis, not throw the book at someone who, say, used to shoplift when they have a traffic violation in the future. The spoiler thing admittedly isn't a big deal for me as I know what it is I'm getting into when I frequent an online COMIC BOOK forum.
That being said, rules were broken, and you can't argue with that. The permanent ban is a bit much, but perhaps a temp one would better serve not just Kris but the forum as a whole better. Shit happens, especially online. Don't raise holy hell about it.
For clarity's sake, he was banned not simply for posting spoilers but for doing it for the sole reason of antagonizing another member - aka trolling. As I said in the thread in which this happened, the reason it was a permanent ban as opposed to a temp one is simply because he's had a history of trolling and even attacking moderators. From my view it's perfectly clear that he has no intention of following the rules of the forum since he has broken them several times. I see no reason to reverse his ban, especially since he created a sock account after his banning.
Also, I, personally, have no problem with any of you having an opinion on this or sharing your opinion in a respectable way in the proper avenues, but a petition is pointless. It's simply going to cause more petty arguments and it's not even a proper topic for this forum. If you feel the need to discuss this do it via private messages.
