I guess news on this has been kind of slow lately, but I wanted to get a look at Jordi Molla (the guy whom I think is supposed to play the lead merc), so I watched Colombiana (actually a pretty damn good little action film). My conclusion is that as always I think they've nailed the casting for the Riddick films. He's gonna rock, especially if he gets to ham it up a little more. He has a great bad-guy look, too. Should be a perfect merc...
No, I haven't seen one yet. And I'm getting a little impatient (no pun intended), only because Vin seemed to imply that one was going to be announced very soon.
I did notice two new names on the cast list from IMDB just now... maybe they've been there for a while, but I didn't notice them until now..
This random site says FEB 2013. Doesn't seem particularly reliable to me, though. I am getting extremely impatient. They should have at the very least a teaser poster by now. Arg.. I hope the Universal marketing team doesn't botch this.
Hey Leech, I just watched Chronicles again the other night on dvd.
I'm just wondering (& assuming you own a copy) what's the diff between the "Convert" & "Fight" options in the Menu?
I've always clicked on the "Fight" option but the other night I opted for "Convert" & I swear there was some scenes I've never seen before...
Yes, i own the DVD and Blu-ray, heh. I used to own the DVD theatrical cut, too... but i traded it in..
Um, the difference in the fight and convert menus is just a different menu design. Fight goes to Crematoria with Riddick's knives and convert goes before the quasideads. Now, if there were scenes that you've never seen before, then my best guess is that you've only seen the theatrical cut and this time you watched the Director's cut. And yes, there is about 10 or 15 min worth of extra footage added in.
Sweet. I'll have to check the cover to see if it say's, Director's Cut anywhere...
From previous watchings, I swear the 1st time Aereon is introduced is captured & in front of Lord Marshal....however watching the "Convert" option...she's introduced to Riddick in Imam's house, explaining how he's the last Furyan.

And the blu-ray has both versions, but not the same cool menus. However, the picture quality is excellent and was well-worth the upgrade.
Nope. She's always been introduced at the beginning in Imam's house. There's actually one or two things that I like better in the theatrical cut, though (I never have understood why they were changed). The main one being the line from Kyra about Riddick wanting to run the surface of Crematoria. It was perfect. But for some reason in the DC it has a bunch of the inmates rambling and it's kind of awkward. Anyway, but besides that you get much more important stuff in the DC.
From the pics I've seen on this thread, it looks like they're going for a 'Conan in Space' sort of thing for Riddick. Which could be good or bad I suppose.
I'm pretty sure that was in the theatrical cut... off the top of my head. If you saw this woman, then you saw the director's cut. If not, then it was theatrical... there's some pretty obvious and revelatory footage in the DC. You'd know if you saw it...

It's funny that you mention that because i remember people saying that the end of CoR was like Conan the Barbarian. I actually still have never seen the original Conan, though.. should i?
I would recommend them, there are some similarities between Riddick and Conan but even if you don't agree you would still probably enjoy the Conan movies all the same.
Cool, I'll try to check out Conan. I'll bump it to the top of my Netflix queue..
(This is old news, but I'm just now seeing it...) If you follow this link to Twohy's Blog, you'll see what appears to be a new shot from RIDDICK 2013 of Karl Urban (Vaako) and Andreas Apergis who plays “Krone." Krone looks badass.
(I would "img" post it, but it's a very large image)
Conan 1982 is easily in my top 20 favorite films. It's worth the watch.

Don't bother with Destroyer, it's complete trash. Also don't bother with Red Sonja (1985), cos that was supposed to be Arnold playing Conan, but the studio couldn't secure the rights to the name from the Robert E. Howard estate so they renamed him 'Lord Kalidor' soon after filming began.
