You certainly can! When Nelgrin lifts his hammer to finish you off, his determination suddenly wavers as Wentar launches his brief mental assault! Wentar bends the beast to his will momentarily, long enough for Altar to zip over with a Dash and attack the Herglic from behind.

Altar opts to tap Forward Guard into a powerful strike at the Herglic! Thirteen successes in 19 damage to the beast, which should make Wentar feel somewhat better.

Altar's lightsaber carves a deep grove in Nelgrin's side, and it roars in anguish.

----

DEFENSE OF THE SEAT (Skirmish Six), Start of Turn 8

Entrance A

Nelgrin (C9): 3(2A)/46 [PA AS DU]

Altar (LS10): 2/26 [FwGu BL RF] [OGu CL] (1F)

Hloo'jen (G8): 1(1P)/28 [CC ES] (1F)

Wentar (LS9): 1(1P)/44 [OGu BG RF] [FcGu BL RF] (2F)

"Give up Nelgrin! You're surrounded!" Wentar orders when Nelgrin pauses with his attack.

Swap Orthodox Guard for Focused Guard, Bodyguard on Altar. Attack Nelgrin

Correction- it's actually Turn 7 this round, I skipped a number.

Initiative is yours again!

Nelgrin throws a Duck tap against his attackers (though that does little against Hloo'jen). Wentar's use of Focused Guard undoes his attack there; the Parry of Duck is too great and Nelgrin manages to brutishly smash your blade aside. Altar lands a blow for 8 damage. Better than nothing.

Nelgrin has refreshed Power Attack with one last Fortune point. He taps it again... but Wentar saves the day! Without the Assault tap to back him up, this time, Wentar interposes his blade and keeps Nelgrin's hammer from coming back down.

DEFENSE OF THE SEAT (Skirmish Six), Start of Turn 8

Entrance A

Nelgrin (C9): 3(2A)/54 [PA DU]

Altar (LS9): 2/26 [BL RF] [FwGu OGu CL] (1F)

Hloo'jen (G8): 1(1P)/28 [CC ES] (1F)

Wentar (LS9): 1(1P)/44 [OGu BG RF] [FcGu BL RF] (2F)

Swap out Reflection for Block, then tap it and attack again.

BG still on Altar.

Forgot to add Hloo'jen's shot in there, for an extra 2 damage.

Nelgrin takes the roll for initiative, but without Power Attack his blow lacks the real terrifying strength he had been throwing behind it. He only rolls two successes for 4 damage to Altar and Hloo, while Wentar remains untouchable.

Then, in a flash of blades, with Wentar and Altar both tapping Block, it is over. It is unclear who it is that actually finishes off Nelgrin, as both of you have your lightsabers rammed deep into his chest. This time, you've struck something vital, and the great behemoth slumps over.

He drops his hammer, which gives one last surge of energy as it hits the ground before he does the same.

Wentar breaths a sigh of relief as Nelgrin falls.

He looks to Altar and Hloo'jen. "Well done guys, with Nelgrin out of the picture our forces will have a much easier time."

Easier indeed!

There is some bad news in there, however- Wentar's energy shield was knackered by that last blow from Nelgrin. You can take his hammer as a prize, if you like, though you don't know how to use it in the way that he did. His was a specific style.

You are called to the Bridge shortly after this engagement.

That is a bummer. How knackered is it? Completely destroyed or are the power cells just permanently fried?

Wentar will keep the hammer, a reminder of just how nasty things can be out here in the galaxy.

Time to return to the Bridge! Can I get any info about why I'm being called back?

Permanently fried. It was really useful while it lasted! Maybe Emso can do something it at some point.

Loj'oon seems oddly chipper over the comms.

"You'll see... just get up here," he says.

The marketplace is more or less abandoned by this point, as all troops have been deployed to the upper quarters or pulled back to the Bridge. So it is only when you reach the Bridge that you sense the excitement in the air, and begin to receive expressions of joy and gratitude from members of Loj'oon's Private Guard.

Loj'oon is able to show you on the station's viewscreens exactly what is causing all the jubilation.

The Republic has arrived!

Perhaps! For now Wentar will hang onto it though, even if it has no more use. It was a very valuable item during those fights.

-

A smile breaks out on Wentar's face. "They're here!" he cheers, feeling overwhelming relief.

"I knew the Committee would see reason! The Srum will have to back off now."

A series of cruisers have dropped out of hyperspace near the Station and are closing in quickly! Out ahead of them zips a small wedge-shaped stuntfighter that you recognize quickly as a Jedi starfighter, though only a prototype.

You notice something odd about the way it is flying, though... it is making a beeline for the Seat, and it appears to be damaged.

"Wait..." Altar says. "Have we received any communication from the strike team?"

"No," Loj'oon says.

"How do you know it's the Republic?" Altar asks.

"Who else is supposed to be arriving here?" Loj'oon asks.

"Try to send them a hail," Wentar says with a frown.

Do I recognize any of the cruisers? Do they have Republic markings?

Now that you look closely, you realize that none of those cruisers bear markings of the Republic. You do recognize the markings they do have, though. These cruisers belong to the Tyr-sen!

You are receiving a hail from the Jedi fighter; it is Master Windu.

"The Committee has not yet reached a decision for helping you in your plight," Master Windu reports. "I have come up with an alternative."

The Overlord's Flagship is now turning to concentrate its firepower on the incoming cruisers.

Oh god... Oh... god. big grin

"They're still debating?" Wentar asks, exasperated. "Don't they understand people are dying out here?"

"Still, thank you," Wentar adds. "It's a dangerous game you're playing there Master Windu."

The space around the Seat is beginning to rapidly fill with starfighters as the Tyr-sen deploy their own fighter craft against the Srum fighters swarming around the space station. Explosions rollick across the surface of the station as some of the Tyr-sen cruisers take a pass at the Seat.

You watch as Windu's fighter zips about, trying to avoid further fire. His comm with you is crackling and breaking up.

"Are you able to get clear?" Windu says.

"Check the engines!" Loj'oon orders frantically as the Seat begins to sustain damage. The Srum had been trying to secure the station; the Tyr-sen could care less.

"We're set!" Emso announces over the comms from the engine monitoring room. "The hyperdrives are functional!"

"HIT IT!" Loj'oon orders.

The space battle and its bright flashes of lasers and explosions disappears and the stars streak around the station... and the Seat of Srum lurches away from the moon it has orbited for a long time, and into hyperspace.

Wentar grips the console he is standing at as the Seat launches into hyperspace. "May the force be with you, Master Windu," he says over the comm, hoping it reaches the Jedi Master.

As they enter Hyperspace he turns to Loj'oon. "Where are we headed?"

"Truthfully?" Loj'oon says. "I set the navigator to random coordinates in order to jump clear of the fight and avoid all pursuit. I don't want anyone to know where the Seat ends up."

Warning sensors are beginning to blare across the Bridge- the Seat, old as it is and unused to the strain of hyperspace, is experiencing minor structural damage. It does not help that the Srum freighters were still docked when the station jumped, or that the Tyr-sen had bombarded it briefly.

Altar reminds you that the Srum are likely still on-board.

"Issue a request for surrender," Altar says. "I find it likely they'll listen to the Jedi that slew Nelgrin, at this point. They have no reinforcements, now. The only ones I would be worried about are the remnants of the Overlord's assassins."

"I hope we don't wind up in the middle of a star," Wentar jokes, though he's more worried about the station falling apart really.

"Then it is only fitting that you're with me when I issue the surrender," he says in response to Altar. "There's no telling which one of us really killed him."

I suppose all the Srum are still amassed in the Hangar. Or am I just suppose to use the stations announcement system?

That is up to you! Doing it in person would really make an impression, of course. I can give a bonus to any social roll for having Nelgrin's hammer.

Sorry for the lack of posting! Been ultra busy here.

-

Wentar will do it in person, finding a higher point in the Hangar he can stand where all the Srum can see. His skill with the force amplifying his presence to those below.

He raises Nelgrin's hammer above his head.

"Pirates of the Kylugo Srum! As you may know this station has just entered hyperspace, leaving your flagship and reinforcements behind. Your leaders, Nelgrin and Hanza, have been defeated by our forces."

He casts down Nelgrin's hammer.

"You cannot win and you have no where to retreat to. Throw down your weapons and surrender. You will be treated fairly."
