No, he's equally strong well before you incorporate magically amped punches. That last bit is what gives him the EDGE in a punch fest over Clark.

Even so, the magic really only comes into play when and if he amps his strikes or calls down the lightning. And those two advantages don't surely make Captain Marvel ">" than Superman. DC has more or less consistantly portrayed them as equals, with Superman being "slightly more equal" than Captain Marvel at times.

I'm not really interested in how the Marvels perform in the gauntlet, but in what ways has Supes been shown 'slightly more equal' at times exactly? Hell, his only real victory over Marvel is when Cap himself was weakened due to being further away from the gods that power him. They have built in excuses for either if they can best each other occasionally. More recently it seems to me at least, they have been giving Cap the edge in a pure melee scenario. Even in the recent Public Enemies animated adaptation, Supes wasn't even able to knock Marvel back off of his feet, whereas everytime Cap hit him, Superman was being moved back and he even knocked him down twice.

people dont want to admit it though. both black adam and captain marvel are completly as strong , fast, and durable as superman. but they have magic and can amp there punches to be stronger. thats why either would beat superman in a long fight.
