I was really surprised it wasn't. And what I was really surprised about was even though it ultimately was ruled legal, the judges voted against us anyway... I still don't know what's up with that.
In any case, those aren't the only herald-busters that have happened. The few I named should be enough proof of that, in addition to the ones you mentioned.
Obviously I'd prefer no amalgams, but again it could work either way. I just want you to be aware of it. In an amalgam format, the last 3-4 teams in the tourney will have amalgams capable of going rounds with Surfer or better.
That's a good point. She isn't at all. Her recent clash with Supergirl should lay to rest any nagging doubts otherwise. I'll be moving her.
However, the tier thread is a rough guideline, not a rigid doctrine. Tourney hosts can and have always used discretion. I would hope she'd be banned from such a tourney regardless of her tier standing.
I've been involved in so many tourneys, that you may just be right and I'm not remembering. But whatever. Either way it's not something that sticks in my mind, and Kang should definitely be where he is at low herald.

scoob and i took him and wreaked havoc until we reached the finals of that one tournament. then the final was cancelled for whatever reason. too bad. kang was a BEAST for us.....

didn't really know he'd been placed in low herald. not sure i agree with that--don't see him being much above IM's more powerful versions--but yeah, we had fun with him.
I've actually entered even more tournies than you have... believe me, you aren't telling me anything new. And in the high-herald tourney we were in, have high herald teams as well as prep and short rules, you were warning that it was just going to be skyfather+ meshes but it ended up being quite down to earth.
Anyway, like I said if I do a tourney, that's what i'd like it to be... maybe someone will beat me to it.
Lol, well ok. I like down to earth. But I wasn't trying to patronize you, I know your history as well as anyone (besides yourself). Just giving my opinion. Because, really, a couple combos I named would challenge heralds. I'm not completely full of hot air.
Regulated right, amalgams can be fine though. I won't belabor the point anymore, but I think we understand each other's positions.
