Nada (They Live)
(please log in to view the image) Roddy Piper as Nada.
He has come to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And he's all outta bubblegum.
But he has plenty of bullets.
They Live came on the other night and after looking around online, no one has done a respect thread for the man simply known as 'Nada,' since no one knows his real name. So it's time to give Mr. Nada his due. Roddy Piper played this part well.
The movie is based off a short story called 'Eight O'Clock In The Morning' by Ray Nelson, and it also takes a stab at the economy, as well as subliminal messages in the mass media.
Nada is a homeless construction worker who comes across a terryfiying conspiracy - aliens live among the humans, and can only be identified by wearing a special pair of sunglasses, which also reveals various types of subliminal advertising. Scary.
Despite being one man, Nada takes the war to aliens. The shootout inside the bank, along with the Keith David fight, is one of the most memorable in movie history.
Duke Nukem used his 'bubblegum and kick ass' line, although reversed. Even South Park parodied the fight using Timmy and Jimmy.
They Live rules.
The Bank Shootout.
Nada versus Frank.
