Gender: Male Location: Stuck In the future where Akus evil
Just got back from seeing this and it was really good! The scene [SPOILER - highlight to read]: where he used his Atomic Breath for the first time was soo sweet! and the Atomic breath down the throat....holy $hit that was awesome!
No. Just people don't understand what the original was about. And most people are mad because its not a giant slugfest. Most Godzilla fans enjoyed it. It was a really well done movie. Of course it has its flaws. Its still a Godzilla film so there is gonna be some cheesiness.
What PISSES me off about the movie is that It wasn't about the 2 MOST INTERESTING Characters but instead we get stuck with Boring Car Boy and the lame ass military response.
And yes. I am a BIG Fan of the Original movie, but this ISN"T The ORGINAL! This was supposed to be a fun SUMMER Big Special Effects MOVIE like Avengers.
NOT SOME POLITICALLY DRIVEN ART HOUSE BORE FEST!!
If I wanted to watch MOS again I would get high off house hold cleaner chemicals.

So, honestly what was the point of including 2 MUTOs into the plot?
Why the build-up?
There were several irritating scenes where something interesting was about to happen then characters stand or block the camera then the scene fades to another scene. It was deliberately done & felt like a cheap cop-out.
Another aspect that bugged me was the amount of damage shown to the cities even BEFORE either MUTO or Godzilla arrived.
You could clearly see how agile the winged MUTO was gliding through the gaps of the buildings without hitting/damaging any structures. Whilst the female MUTO wasn't clumsy either, it wasn't like she walking around bumping & destroying every obstacle in her path.
I didn't stop to think much about the trailers until now, but it certainly proposed a darker take on Godzilla, when the menace was the MUTOs. Yeah, too bad the attention was entirely shifted into those dark sequences and not in what was portrayed on the movie. I guess we can write a book called Godzilla vs Marketing now.

It's interesting that this film is essentially the Man of Steel of 2014. It's polarized everyone who's seen it into absolute love or hatred (I loved this movie). Ironically enough, critics of MOS say that had too much destruction, whereas critics of this film are saying it had too little.
Gojira disappointed me =\ But the ending managed to to save it from a really bad review. SO many useless scenes though. I would have cut a lot of the human interaction and would have only teased one fight. Not 2 `-.- But I know shit about film making so whatever.

Well as I stated before, the nuke subplot is essentially inconsequential to the film. Well not exactly, because it was the soldiers going into San Fran to get the nuke which caused Brody to burn the nest, which in turn distracted the female MUTO long enough for Godzilla to get back on the offensive and eventually win, but that's more of a coincidence than a direct effect on the plot.
I think the difference there is that Superman is expected to put the safety of civilians above everything else. But no one expects that of Godzilla. Especially when most people walked into the film thinking he was going to be the main villain monster.
