Freddy dominated him the entire movie. Freddy used him for his own means. Freddy then went into the real world to ko him. Freddy then reverted him to a small/scared child in the dream world completely at his mercy. Freddy also had the upper hand prior to the kids being involved all the while trying to help Jason.
I liked how they brought Ash into the story with a new S-Mart opening at Crystal Lake and then hears about Jason's exploits and comes to the conclusion that he's a Deadite.
Outside of Cyborg Jason, Michael can and has matched all of Jason's feats of strength and durability.
Or even surpass them. Remember Jason getting blown to bits by a simple hand grenade? Yeah. Michael has come out whole from an entire hospital wing exploding. Granted, he went into a coma for awhile, but his skin and bones are tougher than Jason's.
Strength wise Michael has never performed anything close to Jason's feats.
It's madness to assume otherwise.
Durability wise. Sure, Jason can be defeated via a military unit mincing him with assault weapons and grenade launcher.
Michael would've fallen just the same. Michael has been minced by police pistol fire many times.
He returns later just as Jason does. They rejuvenate.
But in a straight confrontation between the 2, Jason would shatter Michael's bones on impact.

I do agree Michael couldn't beat either but it would work. Here's why. Michael isn't the strongest, most durable, superhuman, or the smartest. He does combine being a tank and being intelligent though.
Anyone can kick a man that weighs no more than himself out of a window.
Michael in that same movie tanked a chainsaw straight to his chest. Just straight no sold it.
You want to talk about embarrassments. Jason was killed by a 10 year old.
Jason's bones were cracking from mere gas cannisters flying at him against Freddy. Michael got up instantly from an ambulance crash from a 100 foot tall or so bridge.
Jason got put to sleep by two syringes full of sleep medicine. Michael tanked at least a dozen needles full of some kind of tranquilizer straight to one spot in his neck.
Jason's fingers got cut off from Freddy's claws, which was from a helpless swipe while Freddy was on his back cowering. Michael had an axe thrown at his shoulder socket--and the blade was thicker than his shoulder, and it barely even embedded itself a few inches.
Jason punched off a dudes head? Cool, Michael punched through a steel reinforced door and casually bent steel bars with a push.
Jason has been put on his ass by single shotgun blasts. Michael took shotgun blasts from about half a dozen cops for a good minute or two before finally falling.

That's just like you to ignore what happened at the very end. Freddy winked. he was screwing with Jason. Freddy often gives the illusion he's been defeated to his victims. Watch a Freddy movie for crying out loud.
