Don't they not charge you till it ships?
But he may use it to get an idea how many people will be getting it.

The official teaser trailer for Revenge of the Sith - here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNJb8AcDNxY

The footage of Alec Guinness at the start of this trailer is not llifted from A New Hope, it is a slightly different take which was cleaned up just for this trailer.

Also this is blu-ray wouldn't it be cool if they finished the deleted scenes

Personally, I'm only interested in them from a historical point of view - to see the unseen archive footage dating from the production of some important movies I grew up with.
The scenes - per se - mean little to me, in as much as cleaning them up and adding modern FX and sheen toi them kind of defeats the purpose.

except that it could sell out very quickly. the day avatar came out on dvd we had hundreds of copies in blockbuster. they were gone by 5pm, and there were still people coming in looking for them. a pre-order can actually be a very good idea.

I never have problems getting anything when it comes out. I think pre-order is kinda obsessive. But at least you get it maybe a day earlier.

It does help for Lucasfilm though. Even though they charge you when they ship it out to you, on paper you can already check out the sales. And start counting the money.... ("De Monet!!!")

i was speaking more about in-store pre-order, which is more like keeping you a copy once it's released, and you get it at a cheaper price.

THat's not so much a cut scene... it's the (unused bit) of Alec's close-up: they shot the entire scene from different angles. For the trailer they used this.

This is a very odd scene now... OB1 speaks of thousand generations... in the PT talk about a thousand years... Weird.... there is a distinct difference between a generation and a year... A generation is in our time app. 25 years... So OB1 in ANH is talking about 25.000 years... the JEdi about a thousand... WTF???

On the sith trailer it still says 1000 genreations, but I think you may be refering to TPM in the council where they were talking about the sith and how they have been extinct for a millenium (1000 years) but i don't think they mention how they have been around.

Yeah, but my point was they went to the effort of locating that piece of footage from the B camera set up, making a new print of it and cleaning it up.
If they can go to that much effort for a trailer, then surely they should be able to do the same for cut scenes.

Oh yes, I agree. I'd love to see all the cut scenes, not in the movie, but I'd love to see them.

Palpy talks about the republic which stood for a thousand years, which he will not allow to be split in two. And Senator Organa talks about a thousand years of democracy. And George Lucas wrote their lines.

oic, well i'll chalk that up to a thousand years is a hell of a long time and he's not wrong the republic has been around for at least that long and the line sounds better that way instead of "i will not let this republic which has stood for a thousand generations be split in two"
and as for the democracy maybe democracy has only been around for 1000 years which is still alot of time.

while i was looking up lines in the trailers for my response on one of the ATOC trailers there is a scene that wasn't in the movie or in the deleted scenes with anakin and obiwan outside of the bar and anakin says i've heard this lesson before and obiwan responds you haven't learned any thing anakin.

An earlier post did.

I kind of doubt that since there's still the 3D release looming ahead, and if Lucas is given enough time I suspect he'll think up new things to tweak, but overall Chreff's post sounds encouraging, not just for the Blu-Ray release but for the digital preservation of Star Wars in general. He even mentions Adywan. "

" Chreff said:

Let me see if I can be more clear. The 1997 SE was a restored version of the original print plus new effects added. What they did in 2004 was completely disassemble the restored film, cleaned it more and scanned everything in the computer separately. THis basically means the celluloid negative will never have to be touched again. They then re-composited the films together back into the SE version with more additions. Because this process is almost like putting a film together again from scratch, the original color timing that was done in 1977 or 1997 was basically erased and had to be redone. The problem is that because they attempted to meet a DVD release deadline they completed the composites but never finished the color, sound and other little things that would normally be done on a full restoration. That's why things that weren't even in the original release in '77 (like the big blue halo around the Death Star explosion in ANH) are seen on the 2004 DVD. The digital transfer is almost too good.

What's good about all this though is that everything is in a computer at super high res quality. They can pretty much dial in a piece of film and the effect and adjust and correct at will. It's far less laborious than trying to redo real film. Instead of having to mess with celluloid they just hit a keyboard. They put all 3 films together for the 2004 release in less than a year. They've now had 6 years to do the same work. There's no question this quality will be the best ever for SW.

I know how this process works because I have experience in digital editing and also follow SW quite closely, obviously. I also know people in the business who are involved and I know the restoration on the SW saga was still being done long after the DVD release. People like to call GL names but he's continued to put a lot of cash into this project for years (as he should since this is where everything started). The blu-ray is essentially the final version of SW.

The lightsabers will be fixed, especially the green one in ANH. That black smudge on the Emperor in ROTJ? Gone. Those boxes around TIE fighters in ANH? Bye bye! The magically appearing TIE's in the ROTJ space battle? I don't know about that one honestly. It's won't be like that Adywan Revisited stuff though. I'm as anxious to see it as anyone to see it all on my 55" plasma!"

It's kinda sad that they sell us half a job with that DVD. I feel cheated by Lucasfilm...

On the one hand they keep changing the movies to make them fit with Lucas' original vision. But when it comes down to us buying it, we get a half-a$$sed job... The prices weren't cut in half...

We'll see about TPM. I supposed they could do everything in digital and use the original digital scenes and cut them digitally to the digitized orginal film stock. They prolly digitised the whole film master (in which digital video scenes were first transferred to film).

We'll see how far they'll be able to complete it this time.
