Anyway, Byrne era Superman still had some stupidly powerful feats under his belt. While he may have not been as powerful as he is now, the connotation of him being a weak little p*ssy back then simply isn't true.
Superman wins.

Well, when you're the first Supes since the Pre Crisis Era, that'll make you look like a weakling by comparison..
Time and Time Again did feature some ridiculous durability feats, like surviving a moon exploding and a Sun Eater collapsing.. Critics like to dismiss those feats on the basis that he was being bounced around time, but the way his cape went from damaged to vanishing shows he was feeling the brunt of those explosions...
No, the explosion triggered the time jumps. That doesn't mean he was spared the effects of the explosion prior to being shunted.
The damage on his cape after even the smallest explosions proves this. And besides, there's no real evidence to support the notion that the time jumping kept him from feeling any and all effects of being caught in the middle of the explosions...
Honestly, Apollo on a good day is in the Mrs. Marvel level threat range (on a bad day he gets over powered by horses). He isn't now, hasn't ever been or ever will be a Superman contender.
