It's the way Blade's been used, they bring in "marvels baddest slayer" yet what does he do? against the vampire army he is completely absent. His only panel time he runs away from vampire forces in his one shot and mid arc. Then Gischler finally gives him panel time only to have him back stabbed by Cyclops (an optic blast to the back ko's him? really?) Then he gets stopped by Wolverine and he leaves? Not only that Blade trying to stake Jubilee neglects everything Cornell did for the character, Blade was chilling in a vampire bar with Spitfire and he didn't overreact. My main grievance though is that Marvel doesn't get how to sell this character, I honestly can't recall a story in the past year where he wasn't taken out in some abstract fashion for PIS purposes. Just needed to vent that...

He needs his own series. X-Men title wouldn't be good for him anyway.

That's the thing, Blade currently isn't popular enough to hold his own series, and if marvel wants him to eventually reach that level of recognition you need people to like him, neglecting him in an arc about vampires then having him embarrassed isn't really a way to market a character.

Apparently, Marvel doesn't know how to treat the character, Blade.

Restricting the Daywalker to only dealing with vampires is the company's biggest mistake. Just because the individual is known as a "Vampire Slayer", doesn't mean you can't think outside the genre and have Blade dealing with other villainy.

Compare Blade for a minute to one of the Belmont characters from the videogame, Castlevania. In the latest work, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, did Gabriel Belmont face just vampires, or numerous amounts of "supernatural" creatures; ghouls, Lycans and phantoms?

There's an idea. Why not have Blade broaden horizons and fight more supernatural-related entities? Villains from the Marvel Universe could even be incorporated into the scenario, such as, Mephisto.

Furthermore, a possibility that could happen is Blade being composed by a writer that's not famous. In other words, a Fan-Fic writer [Fictional]. Writers such as Frank Millar, Grant Morrison, Marv Wolfman. They all started somewhere, right?

Weird thing is, where im from Blade is easilly in top 10 of most recognizable comicbook characters. Easilly on Hulk's level. Then again, people dont read books here so its thanks to the movies mostly.

He def needs his own series.

To be honest most people don't read comics. We are a dying breed because most people know the characters from movies and cartoons.

Hey Tracks do you have scans of Blade and Logan's fight?

It wasn't a real fight, he like stopped Blade from staking Jubilee, they didn't really fight though. I don't have the scans though.

Hes not relevant though, despite being a decently old character he has just met most of Marvels heroes in the past couple of years. It's hard to get him a strong fanbase when he jumps around doing nothing...

However being in the X-Men and and Ultimate Avengers arc are definitely going to help.

They did that with Nightstalkers.

Blade got short changed again in a storyline, I'm beginning not to like 616 Blade, the way writers treat him is annoying. In X-men after doing absolutely nothing the entire storyline he gets to be KO'd by an optic blast by cyclops and then kicked out of utopia after Wolverine stops him from trying to stake Jubilee...I swear

That stinks, thats really annoying. Way to give Blade some facetime. ****heads. thumb down

Just read it and don't see what the problem is. He was kayoed by being shot in the spine while he was fighting Dracula. And he wasn't kicked off of Utopia either. Him and Logan had a cool scene at the end though. I wouldn't be surprised if Blade turned up in the Jubilee/Wolverine mini.

Marvel is trying to promote Dracula and Blade. Dracula is featured in the next event but as for Blade? Wht did he really do in this arc? Gischler said he came under fire for really centering on Cyclops and Wolverine (who always get panel time) instead of the other x-men and Blade. Basically you can't expect a character to sell if he doesn't really do much.

He probably won't, the book has Wolverine in it, no one steals Wolverines spotlight haha.

Hey, did it make sense to you that Blade wanted to kill Jubilee but when he was with MI:13 he was hanging out with Spitfire and even hanging out in vamp clubs but didn't wan't to kill the vampires?

Yea the scene where hes in the vampire bar didn't make much sense to me...on the other hand those vampires had a history of being passive im guessing while jubilee quite clearly was blood hungry

thanks, It shows that, t the very least, Blade isn't intimidated by Wolverine, but it's dumb how no one listens to him except Emma.

That was funny. Wolverine was like "I dare you" then without hesitation Blade turns around and goes toward her, then they wrestle for a bit then basically Blade says f*ck it she's your problem now.

now it didn't bother me that someone agreed with Blade. Nor that it was a person in a position of power. What bothered me is that Emma specifically is the one who agreed without hesitation.

Jubilee is a former student of hers, and she once got suicidally depressed over the loss of her students, the Hellions.

It was this loss and deprtession that allowed the X-Men to recruit her to the good side. Then after nearly ten years worth of comics she seems to totally forgotten the over 20 years of her character and just willingly tosses a former student under the bus?

Yea, gischler seemed to be a bit off in terms of character history. In fact I was surprised Wolverine wasn't the one agreeing after seeing his look of disbelief when Cyclops blasted Blade out of the air. I was also a little disbelief Gambit was silent, Gambit is the only X-men Blade has had an extended adventure with.
