Isn't the overworld, the surface at least basically Ordon, Eldin, and Lanayru provinces from Twilight Princess?
Also, is the location of the Temple Of Time consistent with the other games? I know it's in the desert but is it at least in the south east?

I don't consider adding a more precise sword mechanic and a different overworld design as new, I at least expect a sequel to have a different area to explore and something added to it.
My issue is that the formula is pretty much the same since OoT aside from a few differences.
It's not really an issue because they're usually really well developed but I feel that the developers can broaden the series because it's getting stale. It would be a very good thing for the series.
You're arguing against staple elements that the series stands for by definition of its genre. As such it takes keeping the barest of the bare essentials and then 'broadening' from that based on the approach they're going for. To that end, Skyward Sword is still the least dependant on past structure since OOT made the jump to 3D. Even then, the worst parts of other Zeldas were usually the parts that can be considered "broadening" by your definition.

The Temple of Time is in the desert but
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: The Sealed Temple is quite obviously the Temple of Time from OoT forward, you can even see the marks of the sages on the floor through the cracked door behind old Impa.

The content has changed.
Zelda would never be the same without puzzles, but they've changed the puzzles to be cleverer, and more prolific through out the world. The entire game is an endless dungeon, or feels like one, rather than a few individual ones spread out.
The combat is entirely different, and combat with buttons may never be the same for me. The bosses are better, the enemies more thoughtful, the characters more likeable, the setting is different.
You legitimately live on a floating island in the sky, this is not the same as being born in Ordon. Heh.
And yes, it's still a Zelda game. And I ****ing love Zelda games. >=D

They changed up Link's age as well didn't they? Regardless, one of the things I see getting a little stale with Zelda (again, despite not having played SS yet) is that Link's story is getting a little formulaic in that almost every game seems to be a Link coming of age tale. They definitely have the opportunity to change that with another prequel starring a character other than Link or by having Link be middle aged. I always thought it would be neat to have an older, grizzled, one-eyed Link fighting against the interlopers or fighting in that war before Ocarina of Time and turning out to be both the Hero Of Time's father and the gold armor-wearing skeleton who teaches you sword techniques in Twilight Princess. Yeah it may be a little bit Snake-ish but again, Zelda hasn't done it. There are plenty of games left to be made and plenty of holes to be filled, The Interloper/Imprisoning War, the backstory to Minish Cap, The backstory to Four Swords, The Fierce War, Sealing Maladus... Those are all games Ninendo could make and those are all games where Nintendo doesn't have to have the same young boy coming of age to save young princess story as a framework.

I've always wanted a grizzled, older Link, but this is something Nintendo doesn't seem to want to do. They're kind of content to create extremely depressing scenarios without actually highlighting how soul crushing they can be.
They leave that to the player to realize, leaving the games accessible for younger players, while older veterans get that 'Dear God... ' factor.
Could you honestly imagine, for exmaple, what OoT Link must be like when he's forty? That would break hearts.

U must really love the game! This game seems to go on forever! Every time I think im getting close to the end there are 3 or 4 more things to do (hero song, triforce etc). Once I beat it I would have to think real hard if I want to get into the Hero mode. Then again it might be faster the second time around since you know where everything is and where to go.

Finally got this game!! Only gotta wait a week or so for all my damn projects and finals to end before i can play it...I am so looking forward to it...ONe question though is the music that comes with the game good? and would looking at it have spoil some of the game?

The music that it comes with is great...and how could looking at it spoil the game? It's music.
It's not an actual Skyward Sword soundtrack, so you won't have song titles like "_____'s defeat" or anything like that, if that's what you're worried about - it's orchestral arrangements of various themes from the entire series.
Gerudo Valley in particular is amazing, but that's always been a great song <3
Is there any music from Twilight Princess in the game? Apart from being the best in the series, I think it would be telling if certain musical themes made a comeback. What about the Serenade of Water?

Yeah, I like dark, atonal music. I really enjoyed all the horrifying, bizarre Twilight music. Figured it would be interesting if any of the villain themes from SS in anyway resembled a non-distorted version of the interloper music. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait till the 25th at my girlfriend's insistence or wait for someone to rip the soundtrack and not have it immediately deleted.
Starts at 30 sec. mark.

Just gonna say my honest thoughts: Skyward Sword is better in every way than Twilight Princess. The sole exception is music, it's odd to say, but the songs, other than the Ballad of the Goddess and [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Song of the Hero are unusually weak. For a Zelda game, that is odd.
Otherwise though, seriously, every way. Skyward is amazing. Most fun I've had in years.
