I don't really care about Rimi but I'm glad to see that the "Invincible Miu"
can still be challenged. Though that begs the question of how Rimi is in better shape than Ryuto when he used the Seidou Goui even though her case appeared to be far more severe.

probably because it was canceled out for her before the damage could spread that far? not only that, but Ogata did cancel out the technique rather than wait for her to lose control of it, whereas with Ryuto, he pretty much used it to the point where he lost control and Ogata didn't really do anything about it until some time after the fact.
We can note that Ryuto's case, he was wanting to see how it worked and Ryuto was more of a test. In Rimi's case, she wasn't really needed to see how it worked as Ogata already had his data.

hmm, yeah there is that too. but I bet he didn't count on Ryuto being able to eventually figure out how to gain better control of it. he's already walking around with a crutch without too much trouble so chances are he'll be fighting again back at full health in some time.
and since Ogata is naturally using his own disciples as test subjects for techniques, I wonder if this means some time in the future he'll use the Seidou Gou as well against a particularly powerful opponent.
I always assumed that that was how he defeated the Invincible Superman. Hayato is getting old: he's in his 70s. There is no way he is as strong as he was in his prime. So, I just assumed that this was the climax of the series: the death of Hayato at the hands of Ogata.
I just didn't believe Ogata could defeat Hayato even if he used that technique.
Anyway, I used to think that until Ogata kind of struggled against Tanaka. Sure, he decisively one without much issue, but Tanaka did push Ogata just ever so slightly. That's not what you want to see out of a very new Master Class fighter do to someone that is supposed to be Super Master Class. Granted, Tanaka did train himself to fight specifically against Ogata but that should never bridge the gap. The difference between a Super and a regular master class is like the difference between a new master class and a disciple class.
So, basically, I think Ogata is too weak, right now, to defeat Hayato even with "gates" unlocked (lol). I think this is part of what Ogata is studying and training. This is why he had his disciples do this: he needs a boost to defeat the Invincible Superman. If he can defeat Superman, he can defeat any of the others as long as he figures out how to use that technique without killing himself.
So...Ogata is looking for natural steroids? Well Hayato is the strongest character in the series but I still wonder if Ogata has given any though to studying Master Boobies' techniques considering she's supposed to be Hayato's age and was able to embarrass both Shigure and Sakai IIRC. I'd think that would be more time-consuming but also less dangerous than using a suicide tech. Then again the Seidou Gouki is a guaranteed boost so that could be a reason why Ogata is still researching it.
See, I think he (Ogata) is calculating that he can master it to where it is not deadly. Remember the Ryuto has now got it down to an art: there is a time-limit before it starts to cause permanent harm.

pretty much. but also for his fight against Tanaka, he did spend the first portion of it more or less not fighting back because he was trying to rile up Tanaka to the point of wanting to kill him. once he gave that up and started taking things more seriously, you notice that he started to seriously gain the upper hand on Tanaka. for one thing, that sucker punch Tanaka landed on him as he saved Ryuto did graze him, but all it did was make him excited. the first real damaging blow against Ogata was when he got punched into and through a wall. then he got more serious and he started to push Tanaka back really fast.

so the point I guess I am getting at is that, perhaps he is stronger than we suspect. and at the very least, he is potentially the most knowledgeable martial artist in Yami as three of his students (Ryuto, Lugh, Rimi) use considerably different fighting styles and he taught them all the techniques they know now, so he should be able to perform said techniques at a much higher level than they have shown.

dadudemon: never really been one to ever have an avatar or a sig, but if sincerely mean it, then I graciously accept your offer. honestly, not much in how I want it, but maybe with Jack the Ripper from a manhwa called Hell Blade.
as for Gaider and Diego, both are probably allowed to just chill in their cells due to their martial artist pride as abiding by the will of the winners of their fights. but even then, I'm sure their cells and the areas outside the cells are heavily secured and all.
as for the girl.... you know, that probably does make sense in a weird way...
"**** sub-zero weather logic, we need fanservice"....this is probably what the author was thinking.
Also I though Big Lock would be a lot more...secure. I mean this place is supposed to hold the world's best ass-kickers yet I see no guards or restraints on the prisoners. I mean I though the place would've looked more hazardous then simply being placed in some unknown tundra. I will say the land mines were a nice touch.
Okay. I will get to work tomorrow. I will have tons of free time tomorrow. I will send you 2 or 3 examples and you can choose which direction to take it.

thank you. whenever you send them, I'll try to look at them asap.
as for what you said, wakkawakka, well like I said, it is probably more secure than we have been shown. for one thing, this weapons master was breaking into it, not out. even when he left, I'd assume since he himself wasn't a prisoner to start with, he didn't end up triggering any of the traps or security features that would most likely activate if a prisoner actually busted out of his cell. hell, he even said that they could join him IF they could break out.

aaaaaaannnnnddddd, Sai showed up. can't tell if he is fully on their side now or not, but I bet he may possibly fight again in this upcoming arc/battles.
