For the more spec savy people here; I just got myself a new Mac courtesy of my new job (so itīs technically for work and not gaming, but hey!), and I am considering installing a Windows partition to play BF3 on it.
Anyone of you care to guess how well BF3 will run on these specs;
I can't imagine the graphics card dragging you down on pretty much any game with those other specs. 16GB of RAM is probably overkill for anything on the market currently. Mine has 12 and I can max out any of my games - including intensive ones like Skyrim - without issue. I have BF3 for the 360 though, so I can't speak to this game. And despite having built my current PC, I'm not an expert on how these things interact specifically with games, so take this opinion with a grain of salt.
Graphic card might be a problem but I don't have a feel understanding of laptop cards....
But I will say that BF3 runs pretty good. I have a 560 Ti and the rest being 4 year or more old specs (q6600 and 4 GB RAM) and it runs pretty decently on Medium.
Yeah, some games are more card-heavy than others. 26 is playable, just not ideal, especially given the nature of the game. I've played plenty of games under 30fps (the cpu I had before my current was...well...not good), but they also weren't multiplayer deathmatches. But it looks like that's the "highest" fps you can get, so you may be in trouble.
Sorry to hear it though. Hope it works out for you somehow.

Pretty much, the engineer have really taken a boost as to how it was in BFBC2, the sniper however really got the short end of the stick, hitting anywhere but the head and in extremely close range, doesn't give a kill, and the fact that Recons are usefull for exactly nothing in terms of teamwork (unless you go Soflam ofcause) have really killed the class atleast imo.
if you aren't killing people or destroying vehicles... what are you doing?

If you're playing something other than deathmatch you're playing objectives such as trying to capture flags in conquest or arming bombs in Rush. Assault's revival perk comes really handy during this. You get to heal people and even have a noob tube to **** around with vehicles if you want to.
I avoid deathmatch altogether. The random spawn points are too random lol.

Capturing objectives and flags requires you to kill ****tons of people though, which is something the Engineer excels at. lol
That's kind of an ironic statement, considering that the engineer has the most utility out of any of the classes (anti-infantry, anti-armor, long-range potency, short-range potency), whereas assault is only useful for killing. Healing people is definitely a great ability, but it's the only thing an assault class can do that the engineer class can't do better. The RPG, for example, is just as good at killing infantry (if you know how to use it right) as the noob tube, but it's also significantly better at destroying vehicles than the noobtube.

Still prefer assault because of the ability to revive people. A squad with 2 or more assault players is really hard to put down and can easily dominate a game, at least on Xbox because of the fewer amount of players.

The usefulness of classes from top to bottom seems to be engineer > assault > support > recon
imo

So the game has been out a while and I think most of you already have your favorite weapons. Wondering what those are. Mine are the following
Assault - AEK-971 with Kobra(Red Dot Sight) scope, foregrip and Heavy barrel/Supressor(when not playing with friends to attempt to keep hidden) 2K kills
Engineer - A91 with Kobra, foregrip and heavy barrel/supressor. My absolute favorite gun. I have over 3K + kills with it. I love how it FKN drops people like they are already dead men walking.
Support - M27...though there are better guns. I simply don't play this class much.
Recon - QBU with silencer, 4x scope and foregrip. Feels nasty how it drops people with 2 body shots. Kind of feels like a DMR on roids. Good for mid range.
