There actually seems to be a little bit of confusion as to when the DVD/blu-ray comes out. I originally heard October 9, 2012, but there's a site called whatis10.11.12.com that has everyone a bit puzzled. I've also heard the 8th. But the 9th is a Tuesday, and that's when new stuff usually comes out, so I'm going with that... Oh crap, well, I thought Amazon originally said the 9th, but now it says 10.11.12. Jeez..
It's gonna kill me to wait an extra two days to see those deleted scenes... heh.
Very good interview with Lindelof and Spaihts who wrote the film with Ridley. If you're one of the people who does nothing but b!tch about how many things weren't explained and how many "plotholes" there are, then you need to watch this interview...
If that's what Ridley was striving for with Prometheus, I think he succeeded. And that explains a lot (no pun intended). The comparison to Avatar is interesting, too. Avatar is pop entertainment where everything is clearly explained to the audience and Prometheus is left without all of the dots being connected for you. "Hopefully it fires their imaginations..." (-Lindelof) Love it, great interview.
Some other images of Fifield.. pretty badass. I'm a little confused as to whether these are alternate interpretations of his look or a further progression of his mutation. But anyway, these are badass...
Yeah, I'm wishing they had gone with that look, too...
Alien video game.. looks kind of repetitive, but might be fun. I'm not a big gamer, though, so I don't know. I wonder if Bill Paxton will be in it whining like a b!tch the whole time... lol
Here's a good (semi-feminist) take on the film: click me.
It's weird that this feminist interpretation refers to it as an abortion when it's not (the film itself refers to it as a Cesarean). The two are not quite the same thing, heh..
I particularly liked that commentary. Nicely put.
Ah, that explains why they went with the R rating. Yeah, there's no cutting that scene. Easily the best, most memorable scene in the entire film. It was crucial.
I think there's going to be more on the blu-ray version? That seems kind of obnoxious to include more on the blu-ray.. but then again, there is more space on the blu-ray format.
Just watched Prometheus. I liked it quite a bit(and I wasn't really a big fan of the "Aliens" franchise.)
I hope in the sequel ("Paradise", I've heard it will be called) they explore the Engineers more-- maybe show us a glimpse of their home planet. Tell us why they were going to destroy the human race, but then opted not to.

They are supposed to do just that. The very questions that Shaw spews out to the Engineer are supposed to be addressed.
10 MINUTES OF DELETED SCENES. Some of them were right to be cut, but others I really liked (Shaw's little speech for example, and some of the dialogue between Vickers and Weyland I wish had been in the film).
And by the way, after Prometheus' release in Germany, Japan, China, etc. here is the box office total so far: Worldwide: $375,007,909. Hells yeah. And it is going to open in Italy and Switzerland this Friday. So I highly suspect that it will reach $400 million before all is said and done. Impressive numbers. F#cking stoked.

1.) when the team arrives on the planet and enters the room that contains the engineers weapons of mass destruction, what was up with the the metallic engraving/mural that appeared to look like a traditional Alien?: (please log in to view the image)
did the engineers know they were capable of 'engineering' such beasts?
2.) was it explained what the engineers were running from in the first simulation david replayed on board the ship, just before they entered the weapon room?
No one really knows quite for sure. It's meant to be ambiguous at this point. There's only speculation. The murals change, we know that much. They must be made of the black goo, as well.. that's my guess..
I don't think it was explicitly explained, no. Janek kind of spells it out later in the film, but it's still vague. He says something to the effect of their bio weapon got out and turned on them (and it must have been 2,000 years ago, the time of Space Christ). But why nothing was still there is unknown. It must have reverted back to its original form or something... we should find out in the sequel(s)..
