Well, those Perception rolls weren't much good...
You just trod on a crude mantrap, Menelacar. Its bite into your lrg gives you a -5 activity penalty for the scene and leaves you currently immobilised!

Ahh, I should've checked sooner, Anglomir would've thrown something at it to see what would happen.

Ok, in that case as you kneel to help, someone tries to throw a axe in your face!
It's not a great roll but a surprise flank attack has hefty bonuses- you take a 5a hit as it glances off your shoulder armour, Anglomir; the A critical gives no result.

Strength rolls to do it by brute force! A risk of hurting your hands if the roll goes badly.

Anglomir is going to turn and see who it is that has attacked him. If he doesn't like the look of this person, he is going to be flinging a throwing dagger in their direction, aiming to kill for daring to ambush a man of Gondor.
Maybe you can see how the trap works and do it that way, Menelacar, rather than scratching up your hands trying to force it open.
