I wasn't expecting to see Emma Frost show up in this. Like what the hell.

I am a bit surprised as well. Emma isn't well-known outside of comic readers, although the movies may change that.

It makes sense since at the time they were trying to build support for the original X-Men cartoon concept (including using the Arcade Game) and she's one of the main villains. They're just trying to build name recognition.
