For the experts out there, which Zatanna was more formidable?

Hm. That's a toughie.
I want to say post crisis, because most of pre-crisis Zatanna's feats involve extraneous assistance from magical artifacts. That being said, she was capable of disarming Circe and rendering her useless.
Still, I'll have to go with PC because she's more consistent now than ever before.

It's post that she fought and defeated Zor. And like Konton said, she's more consistent post.
So I'd say Post-Crisis Z.
