Ya, villains dont seem to be dieing in their movies as much lately. Red Skull survived (most likely), Loki survived, even Abomination survived (in a HULK movie). Iron Mans villains except Hammer died though. Spiderman villains have never had a great track record in terms of surviving, but it is a new trilogy. Then again, Peter has a personal connection with the Lizard, and Connors will probably know who he is. Chances are, he'll be dead by the end. That or Pete administers the cure to him, and Connors will be grateful so he'll keep Petes secret.

Lizard will probably have a semi-face turn at the end of the movie.

why is raimi spiderman intellect questioned?

he told a otto his calculations were wrong while otto (apparently a genius) insisted otherwise. but peter clearly was right.

that has to count for something confused

Mr. Parker's one-man war against the films is why. Best to just roll with it.

His intellect is used to fight crime in the comics. A lot of us want to see his intellect used that way. Making webs, spider tracers, working out the villains weakness and so on and so forth.

And he didn't tell Otto his calcs were wrong. He said can you be sure, it seems dangerous. He was giving a more ethical stance.

Dude you have made excellent points up to this point but get your facts straight,sm 3 didn't make the most money of the three films. Each film made less than the previous film.

The person who made that list can't count.

How does Spider Man (ranked No.2, $821 million) get ranked ahead of Spider Man 3 (No. 4, $890 million)? Not to mentioned films as far back as 1989 with Batman, with their lower gross? If he was trying to account for inflation, he made no effort to show what the real dollars were.

Article needs edit.

Domestically, yes. But not overall. Spider-man 3 did indeed have the highest overall gross.

Watched that scene as I have SM2 on my comp, you're right, it does show/imply that not only was Parker smart enough were he could hang intellectually with Octavius for an "hour and a half" concerning the device, but questioned if Octavius could "stabilize the fusion reaction"; then Octavius goes on to say he's covered everything etc and that Parker fears he's going to blow up the city, ie arrogance. Which of course, we know Parker turned out to be correct.

Scene seemed to be there at least in port to show Parker's brilliance.

To be honest, I'd prefer something a little more tangible than dialogue to determine if Pete was smart. He never really used his head to get out of problems in the movies. He didn't even register the fact that venom was hurt by sound until almost the end of their fight. That's something that should have registered the second he say the symbiote on the news and remembered how he got it off.

In this first Amazing Spidey movie, we know Pete is a genius straight off the bat because he develops more sophisticated web shooters than I've even seen in comics. On top of that, he helps create the serum that makes the Lizard and synthesizes a cure for Dr. Connors. I'm not doubting Pete was smart in the previous trilogy, but it never really benefited him. His fights with the majority of his villains always devolved into to 'punch him till he gives up'. The new series just seems to advertise his genius more.

Exactly. Who cares if they say/imply he's smart.

We want to see him use that intellect in his crime fighting. Otherwise as far as we're concerned his intellect's pointless.

It' fine if you didn't like the way Raimi choose to portray Parker's intelligence, that's opinion. I personally didn't mind.

The initial discussion revolved around "was Parker a genius in the Raimi films"; he clearly was, as you seem to agree,

Yes, but that's like Reed Richards saying something smart about cosmic rays at one point but never inventing or doing anything with his brilliance the entire FF movie. If you want to portray a character being a super genius, just being smart isn't enough. The character has to use it at some point.

I can understand people doubting Peter being smart in the trilogy because that one throwaway line is all they had to establish it. Whats worse is that they waited until the second movie during his college career to show that. He never once used his head beyond that. I don't think people are doubting that he's smart. They're just disappointed that whatever smarts he had amounted to nothing gained.

Oh no, there's at least one person in this very thread that clearly is. But he's a loon, so it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I just read back and saw this entire argument was started by Mr. Parker. He's always had something against the previous Spidey movies, and he's been talking about how much he hates them for as long as I've been a member of these forums and longer. He's just looking for reasons to hate them, despite them being outstanding movies (except #3).
