I watched (500) Days Of Summer ahead of time, to get a feeling for Marc Webb's style and how the movie would look. Actually didn't matter, because the movie felt anonymously made by committee; it certainly wasn't like Christopher Nolan bringing his style assuredly to Batman.
All I can say is, it didn't feel Raimi-like, treading the edges of cartoon. That's about it. It's pretty good, but truly different enough to deserve the reboot treatment after ten years, no matter how much we disliked how things ended up after Spider Man 3?
We'll see if Marc Webb feels more freedom to be assertive by the next one.
(And why were they being so mysterious with Norman Osborn's appearance? Plus the big questions about the disappearance of the Parker's go largely unanswered, after all that buildup in the trailers...it smacks of last minute meddling.)

Nah, they haven't said for certain if it was him or not. Actors and everyone else have all said it's not Norman, though I think the next director/writers who're coming in can just shit all over that and make it whoever he wants it to be.
And there was alot of secrect regarding Norman.
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: The part where Peter is going up the escalator, we see Norman's profile covered in shadow, like they don't wanna picture the guy.
My theories on who that dude was at the end:
Vulture, dude seemed pretty goddamn old. He seems like the cross-species type too.
Proto-Goblin, or any other goddamn Goblin for that matter, there's been so many and it could just be one of them.
Mysterio, dude's used more puff and smoke shit than Houdini.
I don't think they want to reveal Norman because they don't have an actor picked for him
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: Which could be why they didn't want to reveal the guy's face at the end so they didn't tie a particular character to a particular face too soon.
Although my idea was that it is Mac Gargan and that the next villain could be the Scorpion. He could be a Private Investigator working for Norman Osborn or just Norman's hired 'spy' so to speak and is used as the prototype for the Green Goblin serum and armor before he goes crazy.
I can see the TAS series using Scorpion since he would be another insect/human hybrid. But tbh I wouldn't like that as it would be too repetitive of the Lizard. Unless they use him as just a side Villain for TAS2. That could work.
Only problem with [SPOILER - highlight to read]: the end credit guy being the Scorpion though is he already seems to have powers, appearing & disappearing so easily. Which is why my money's on Mysterio.
* i don't know... eveything's wrong with the new one except the web-shooters thingy... i mean, how uncle ben died, how he did not go to wrestling, how he got bitten by a radioactive spider, and all that stuff... the movie is good... but Tobey's SM1 & SM2 is still a whole lot better...
I wouldve loveD to see all the classic scenes in the movie but I cant blame them for not including them. Lots of people still say its too early for a reboot, now imagine how people woukdve reacted if they didnt make these changes.. The wrestling match, warehouse scene with uncle Ben's killer All over again etc Thats also the reason they changed the iconic costume. I think with part 2 theyll make up for that.

sm 1 and sm2 were MUCH worse.wow you sure have a horrible memory because he did not get bitten by a radioactive spider in sm1 either. everything was wrong with the first two except the special effects. the only good point you made was the wrestling scene not being included and the way uncle ben died but it was much better than the stupid explanation they came up in the first one where he let the guy go because he was not owed the money he was owed, that totally betrayed the origin story just as much as the wresting scene did. oh and here is why this movie is much better than those crapfest man-spider movies that raped to death his character with those moronic organic webshooters.
If they were worried that they were rebooting it too soon to say iconic lines and show iconic scenes, then should have waited for more time go by before rebooting it, or just not ****ing reboot it at all.
We already know what Peter's origin is. The whole world knows. There's absolutely no reason for why they couldn't have just skipped that whole thing, or had a quick montage in the opening credits show his origin, ala the Hulk reboot.
