Oh god yes. The theatre erupted into laughter at both of those scenes, hell I can't rember a time I've seen such a reaction. Not even at a comedy.
I also liked how [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Thanos was introduced. I've always found him to be rather cheesy in the comics and never really liked the character. But in the movie he and his servent come off as terrifing and creepy. It was very well done.
Indeed. Sadly they've probably already shown too much footage for TDKR as well..
I wouldn't go that far. Definitely one of the best Marvel films so far though (if not the best), I'll give it that.
I suppose I can agree that Loki could've been more powerful, but if it was to the point where even Hulk didn't get the chance to do what he did to him in the movie, I would've been a little disappointed.
Speaking of Loki, the parts where Fury was talking to him was some of my favorite lines. Well, let me know if true power ever wants to read a magazine or something.
Gender: Male Location: Balls deep in your cerebral cortex
something i forgot to mention... [SPOILER - highlight to read]: After Thor busted out of the cell, he was shown trying to summon Mjolnir, but it didn't work and he had to physically pick it up. What was the deal with that? Outside of Avengers comics, I'm not all that familiar with Comic Thor's lore so i dunno if that's something that happens to him very often. Was he temporarily unworthy or something like that?
The film was dope. Like this is easily the best out of all the recent Marvel films they've done. I have a soft spot for Blade II but I think this may take the cake. The best movie I've seen at the cinema in awhile. It's been a couple years since I've had this much fun at a cinema.
I just wish they'd do a little more with Captain America's action scenes. His unparalleled fighting ability and acrobatics should all be utilized more. He had a few good scenes but he should have done more. I liked how they tried to implement his leadership and tactical skills more so in this film.
Iron Man was awesome as always. Cool as hell. Downey Jr. is the man. Hulk was great and actually a joy because finally we get a movie this scale where he can tear shit up and it look appropriate.
Hawkeye was surprisingly badass. Like he was a big welcome addition. Kinda messed up how he seemed more powerful than Cap though.
Loki is a weak villain, but eh, who cares?
Will probably comment on this movie more later when I feel up to it. 2012 looks to be the best summer movie season in, well, forever. This film kicked it off with a BANG! I'd be inclined to give this a 8.5-9/10.
My gripes about The Avengers are so minimal...I tip my head to Whedon.
Yeah I did feel at times that Loki didn't feel all that threatening or more to the point weak & useless without that septre (sp?) that was given to him. I also felt that as a God from Asgard, he should've like floated or levitated when making an appearance rather than walking...like mortals.
I also felt a minor let down that Thor didn't have a helmet, he really looked incomplete without it. Same with Cap losing his towards the end.
I would've also preferred that it was [SPOILER - highlight to read]: the Hulk that damaged the Helicarrier's propeller rather than Hawkeye sabotaging it.
Legolas is the elf archer from the Lord of the Rings and part of the Fellowship. If you have ever seen LOTR, that character should be quite memorable because he has some badass scenes showing off his archery and general combat skills. He was played by Orlando Bloom.

I think that was one of Hawkeye's key feats though, I liked it. The only real feats showing off his archery accuracy was the one we are talking about (shoots into the wind which redirects it onto the ship), and also the one where he shoots without looking.
It's just on another message board I'm on, calling someone "Legolas" has been a long running in-joke, which I never caught on to the context & I thought The Avenger's "Legolas" comment was more towards the in-joke rather than the LOTR reference.
Yeah I agree it was a nice feat for Hawkeye however I just felt that [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Hulk's & Thor battle was seriously tamed down BECAUSE it was set on the Helicarrier in flight soooo to bring back the focus on Hulk's "ultimate" strength, damaging the prop IMO would've been ideal.
I mean Hawkeye had enough screen time to display his skills.
Now on a different note, I hope they don't [SPOILER - highlight to read]: reveal Red Skrull turned into Thanos as he was teleported to that realm as well but we never heard or seen him
